noob, help please...

So I'm new to the whole modding thing (yeh i'm a little late, ha), and i'm thinking about getting the solderless x-ecuter 2.6 mod chip. Since this would be my first time with any type of mod chip, there's a lot I don't know about it. What exactly does it do? And would I need to order anything else to get the chip to work? Or could I just buy the chip and be set? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the first thing you need to do is read. Head on over to www.xbox-scene.com, and check out some of their tutorials. Basically, the mod chip will allow you to boot unsigned code.

Be sure to check the version of your Xbox before you order the solderless adaptor. You can check your version at Xbox Scene as well. Follow the guide where you open the Xbox up.
