Some retailers send some desolder braid and hair-thin solder with your order. I already had some solder from radio-shack and with separate flux it really kicked ass. Just made sure to clean your iron after every solder point, tin your wires, and take your time.

If you had a 1.0 xbox then you should have had to desolder your lpc holes to fit the pin header.

I dont remember you mentioning that, so you may wanna check the tuts and see what version you have.

Also are you using a standard av pack or one with s-video or composite/high-def?

actually, if you touch your soldering iron directly onto the solder itself, instead of heating the wire then touching the solder to the joint, it can make the solder not conduct electricity anymore. learned that in good old EE 101...

if you need your tools to be that perfect for you then that is just sad i have to hack my xbox together using all the wrong stuff. im using solder that is almost fatter than 12 guage wire, im using my soldering iron as a dremel, and i removed the pain behind my jewel with a screwdriver!!!!

WOW IM A f**kING RETARD, why did i just realize this ::CRY::

Sorry, but that's a load of tosh.

Unless you completely destroy the physical properties of solder, then it will always conduct electricity.

Metal conducts electricity. (Haven't I already said this?)

If you overheat a joint then you can make it a dry joint (where all the solder has expelled and the solder doesn't bond to the metal), but that doesn't mean the solder has lost its chemical properties - it just means you have a bad joint!

Re: Hitachi flashing problem

Are you using the onboard SATA ports on your PC? Preferably the primary port.

Re: Hitachi flashing problem

read the jf tutorial and follow the setup as it says with drivers etc
if the drive is still not showing then you may need a via pci card in stead of the mobo ports
read though the jf tut a few times you cant really go wrong
