Yeah, basically what rdubbs007 said. I said before that once a console is banned, its banned forever. You cannot unban it.

Ok, cool; guys this is gr8 information and I really appreciate it.
I checked my Dashboard and upgraded to the latest so HD restored yay!
Right so, sounding rather stupid whats JTAG and how would I know if my XBox is JTAG?
So this whole firmware upgrade of the DVD drive allows me to play my games off a backup disc rather than scratching the heck out of my brand new discs? Does it mean I won't have to keep inserting the disc to play installed games?

If you are on the latest dashboard your xbox is not a jtag nor is it capable of being a jtag. The DVD firmware update will let you play backups yes. You cannot install games and play them without a disc unless you are on a jtag, and we have established that you are not 
Did a bit more research and if I just updated my xbox to 2.0.12625 i believe I can't JTAG it anymore ?
