I find that a few some people are ignorant. Like Xecuter said, "fanboys say xecuter chips suck cus you have to use switches." I'm also hearing people say, "i would rather have a dash then the X3's os."
I'm sure if a manual was made exclusive to X3 owners about upgrading a HD, updating a dashboard, etc... Noobs will soon open their eyes.
For the noobs that unfortunately don't own an X3 or the ones that don't know what to do with the X3, here are my uses. Please post the things you do with the X3.
It's true you can live with x2.6 and be happy. When I first got the x3, I thought it was some regular modchip with a few bells and whisles. But I realise the concept behind the x3 is base on installs and upgrades.
I install many chips and I am happy to see the x3.
Current features I use with the x3 1959 bios:
1) FTP - its fast and I can easily update a dashboard without worrying about
overriding a file that is currently being used by the dash.
2) Shortcut back to X3CL - I'm always upgrading my xbox (hardware and software). The press of the white button to allow you to go back into X3CL is the best feature. There is no need to get up and reset the xbox just to get into the X3CL unlike Xenium and their OS. I value this feature more than IGR because I don't play games.
3) No more bios reflashing - with other modchips, you need to reflash the bios whenever you find the settings are wrong but x3 needs to be flashed once. It becomes irritating using xbtool, ftping, buring.. what ever method you use. Its just too time consuming doing it the old way.
Additional uses for the new x3 bios:
1) Automatic HD upgrades
2) Automatic Software updates
3) Automatic Bios updates (maybe from an ftp server, xb**s)
3) FTP - Most of the time I used x3 ftp and avalaunch ftp / qwix but after the bug fix, I'll use x3 ftp 99% of the time.
4) Pop-up warnings - a must if you ftp a lot.
5) enable / disable boot to DVD - sometimes you forget a dvd in the drive and it
requires a bit of struggle to get the disc out. Problem solved.
6) XICS - more time is now spent with the bios than before. Learning and creating scripts.
