I have installed an Xecuter 2.6CE on my xbox 1.0. As I turn my power on I am welcomed by the FlashBIOS 3.0.3 screen. I choose the Enable Network Flashing option and send it the "x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin" bios. The xbox then says it is recieving the bios and is flashing it. It turns off like normal, but when I turn it back on I am greeted by the same FlashBIOS 3.0.3 screen. I have tried Flashing on both banks, and I even have a spare Xecuter 2.6CE that I have tried the same with. In a fit of rage I began uploading any and all Bios's to my chip, and nothing happens at all.

Are you renaming your chosen BIOS to 'bios.bin' before attempting the network flash?

If so, then don't! It's not needed and will just confuse you which BIOS is which.

delete ALL bios.bin files from your PC (including previously downloaded X2CL BIOSes).

Re-download X2CL 5035 and booting from bank 1, try network flashing x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin again.

If this STILL doesn't work, let me know.

Thinking that this problem could be the chip or the way I soldered. I found another v1.0 xbox and used another 2.6CE chip. An exact duplicate, and an exact duplicate problem exists. I'm begining to think do I need an older Bios? I did what you said, I didn't rename the bios and I also deleted all other bioses off my re-computer and re-downloaded them. I booted from Bank 1, which showed the FlashBIOS 3.0.3, and then networked Flashed the bios.

So let me get this right.

1. Booting from bank 1 (FlashBIOS 3.0.3).
2. Selecting the Network Flash option.
3. Going to the webpage at the IP address given.
4. Selecting your X2CL 512kb BIOS and selecting 'upload'.
5. Xbox shows BIOS updating and then shuts down.
6. Boot bank 1 again and get FlashBIOS 3.0.3 again.

I have an idea. Bank 1 should have FlashBIOS 3.0.1, not 3.0.3. Therefore I think that although you're selecting bank 1 on the switch, it's booting Bank 2. This would explain why nothing changes.

Make sure the switch cable is properly connected to the chip and switch (both ends). Get a small screwdriver to ensure the connector is making 100% contact. It may even be worth checking the pins on the socket (on both switch and chip) to make sure you don't have any bent pins.

If you want to REALLY test this, make a 1MB BIOS using X2 BIOS Manager (1st 512k FlashBIOS 3.0.3, 2nd 512k X2CL 5035). Flash this to your chip and see what happens. I bet the X2CL loads.

Let me know how you get on.

Cool - I'm glad it worked. Don't forget that because of this 'issue', you don't actually have full functionality of the chip. In other words, you can't boot FlashBIOS!

Make a note of it somewhere so if you ever feel like reflashing, you're not left in the dark about why FlashBIOS won't load.
