Not Playing xgd3 games

I flashed my friends Xbox for his kid so they can play backups, I flash the drive back to stock and then updated it and flash it to 2.0, when i did it I tried my backup copy of driver and it worked fine it played no problem, he has come back today saying that his backup of mw3 and sonic won’t play.

When I had a look at this, the game say play DVD, go to a black screen and then back to the dashboard, so I tried the backup copy of drive I have (the one I tried when I flashed it) and that does the something now to.

It will play the originals fine.

I have been searching the forum for this problem and came across this thread, but his problem was his DVD key, I sure the DVD is the right key as i did the dummy file myself for this drive,
has anyone got any other ideas?

He is on dashboard 13599 ( I think from the top of my head lol)

Are you burning your XGD3 backups with a flashed liteon iHAS burner?

not this copy, I did this one befor they came out, am goin to try a backup copy burnt with iHAS burner now as am back in from work lol

If it plays the originals then it is not the key 100%, since it played the XGD3 back-up previosuly I would suggest this is a hardware issue, either laser or ribbon related, your gonna have to get your hands dirty to find out I am affraid.

(There is the option he updated it and it flashed back to stock also, a simplee check in JF could verify this)

not been reflash back, I have tried a backup of medal of honor and that works fine.

I dont hear the drive struggling in anyway, could it still be related?

who burnt the backups?
how were they made, extracted - method of burning?
what media was used?

I burnt the backup, i used abgx 2.9 (newest one) with dae file, i used img burn (the tut when the xgd3 games came out) and i used aone dl media for that copy.

Iam just reburning mw3 with Verbatim

just burn't mw3 with ihas burner with Verbatim MKM003 with OPC on at 4x, still the same out come game starts goes to black screen and then back to dashboard

I think I have sorted this now, I tried a different drive in the console and it worked great, so I reflash the original drive that was in it and its now working again

So I don't know what was wrong with it lol.
