LITEON DG-16D2S obtain key through updating?

hey guys i have my xbox dashboard at 12416 right now.
I was wondering if i flash a random valid key to a new drive and then updated my xbox to 13604 would the xbox reflash that drive with the right key for me?

My guess is the update will give an error and you will be screwed till to flash back to stock "with correct drive key" and run the update from usb or disc.

I tried that with a motherboard that I had no key for, the update went through fine but it didnt flash the right key.

The only problem is I sold it for next to nothing just weeks before the reset glitch was discovered. It was a jasper chipset too, big tip never buy a console with e66 error on ebay.

thanks guys for the help, i guess i have to go buy the cool-runner, tho do i also need the nand-x and a jtag kit?

There is a thread about doing this very thing and several members tried it and confirmed it :wink:

However there were also members that it didn't work for :mad2:

The original thread was started by daleH43 if my memory serves me correctly

awsome! im gonna definitely try this out, only thing i need now is a random valid .dummy right? can anyone provide me with one?
