Odd DVD Drive connector

Hi Everyone, I have a bit of a question
I've recently started to get into flashing drives when I flashed my cousins Liteon 16D4S using VIA and a homemade probe
to get the key, and I've recently got my own refurbished xbox and I want very badly to flash it, so I opened it up to find something odd~
It looks like it's been opened before, and there is a strange splice in the power cable going to the drive, splicing off the bottom right most pin on one side and the two right most pins on the other (Assuming the side with the plastic bits that slot into the female end it the bottom.. Sorry about the lack of pictures I'm cameraless at the moment)

Anywho, they splice off and connect to these little white blocks that split them into two wires that goes to the motherboard directly in between the fans and the Video out port.

Sorry about being so vague but hopefully someone know what I'm talking about? pictures to come...


Also, while I'm here, anyone know of any good tutorial for flashing a Liteon DG16D2S-09C, f/w:93450C ? I can't find a definite tutorial anywhere...

**Update

So I was looking at the pinout and it looks like it's splitting off the 12VDC and the GND+ pins. still no idea what it is though.

I honestly remove those types of mods on any repairs I do, but if you're not sure how to do this then dont mess with it. what do you mean disconnect while its running? like the xbox is running?

I don't mean to disconnect is AS it's running.. I mean like, will the fan still run if I disconnect it or will I need to resolder something
