my apologies if this has been asked before, but here is my problem nonetheless. two days ago, i installed an x3 on my v1.0, and everything was working fine. flashed and dashboard installation went smoothly and installed a new HD. After a day of using it, it was turned off and then tried to turn back on, and only one of the two lights on the chip turns on. Also, it turns itself on and off, and frags. The light on the external switch is blue, and purple with power/eject and red with power hold etc. I suppose my brothers and sisters who were playing it had a pretty long gaming session (couple of hours nonstop?) I don't know if that has anything to do with anything and for information purposes, it was flashed with the most recent BIOS. thanks, in advance, if you guys can help me.

check your soldering, sometimes connections will go bad a few days later.

Its been about a day or two, and the connections look fine. Also, now the lights are flashing orange.

Flashing orange usually means the A/V cable isn't plugged in properly, if at all. Try disconnecting and reconnecting it.

there is also the possibility of heat damage if you forgot to plug the fan back into the mobo, if this is the case the heat in the case may have been enough to damage any one of the chips on the board (though, most likely either the video chip or CPU). If this is the case (especially if your siblings were playing for a long time) you may have to purchase either a new mobo or a new xbox alltogether. You may try booting back to the MS Dashboard to see if the box will still boot at all.

ok, thank you, one question though. nothings wrong with my chip right? if i get a new motherboard and install the chip on there, it will work right? and one more thing, any tips, fan settings, etc. so this won't happen again. (other than not playing for a long time)

you can play for a long time just set the fan speed up to something like 50% (found in x3 bios)
