odd power on

Hiya again,

After finnaly getting the mod chip installed on the replacement xbox, I came to something funny. I can't get into the Bios flash program (push power and eject at the same time), for one thing, but it's not important to me ... yet. The wierd thing that I'm complaining about it, from a cold boot I have to push the eject button to start with the mod chip enabled (blue light), else the light is red and the xbox boots into it's own bios ... did I solder something incorrectly, as mentioned in a similar post before mine (probably the post right after this one). ??

Thanks,
Piotr

after removing the p/e ... it was enabled ... soo, I tried as Ph suggested, tapping it fast as hell. Well, that worked! damn sensitive thing!

Sorry to have trouble you guys, thanks again,

Piotr

dvd drive failure? board failure?

where to start. i have in front of me a rather old xbox. that i thought was dead until i resurrected it the other night by overheating the gpu. it will load to the dash board just fine, runs very cool as well, but will not recognize the disc drive.

drive is a hitachi

it will not eject or recognize a disc, when you press the eject button the center led on the ring will flash quickly (for a split second)

i had a 2nd drive on hand from another box i was trying to fix so i tried to see if it would do anything. i hocked it up and it will eject and since its not the correct drive it wont play a game.

it happens to also be a hitachi like the stock drive so i tried swapping the boards and giving that a go. but no success. same symptoms as previous

what would you recommend?

btw this box has not been modded, although im interested if i can get it running
