I need to make a nand image from scratch. My mate has gave his jtag xmas lights and doesn't have a dump nor his original nand. So basically, is it possible to make a nand for him from scratch?

I have a Zephyr console I just JTAGed using Jtag Tool v3.00.

I read my NAND twice, compared, 0 non-matching blocks found, flashed Xell (HDMI), got my CPU key, and then I proceeded to flash freeBOOT.

For the SMC Points option I choose Aud-Clamp & DVD-Tray (only other option was Original). Under options everything was set to Yes (Check For Updates, Auto Compare Nands? and DVD Drive?). FreeBOOT Eject was set to Xell (HDMI).

I had my JTAG wiring as shown in the Images tab for Alt SMC (AUD_Clamp & DVD_Tray) except instead of a direct brdige where the red line is a put a 100 Ohm resistor.

Now, most of the time when I power on the Xbox 360, it ejects the DVD drive and boots straight to Xell. It will boot normally if I quickly press the eject button to prevent the drive from opening. Why does it do this? I have the option DVD Drive? set to Yes.

Please help. Thank you :).

^ Zephyr has this problem. Make another freeBOOT image with all the same options except for the DVD Drive one. Flash it, and your Xbox360 won't boot into XeLL anymore.

^ No Problem ;)

Coolshrimp, fantasitic tool, makes life so much easier, just one question, how come you have removed the option for Aud_clamp only? This was particulay usefull as I have found some consoles that dont like the DVD_open_tray signal as it causes them to boot into xell all the time.

how did the 100ohm resistor method work for you, i was considering going this route, but i found something zephyr users seem to swear by according to the thread

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=719652

im just now getting ready to try the JTAG on my zeph again, i got so mad at it the 1st time around what a pain it booted about 90% of the time with the original JTAG method (diodes and jumper wire) and it seemed any other attempts to improve its success rate only screwed stuff up more at one point my xbox would turn itself on mi NAND flash for no apparent reason

any ways i started reading around again about the JTAG and other ways to solder the connection and found that transistor method (linked above) and the 100ohm resistor method.

only thing i dont like about that transistor method (or maybe the coolshrimp tool) is i have no way to simply set JUST the AUD_CLAMP as an alternate point, like you said you can only choose DVD_TRAY, AUD_CLAMP or the Original points.

Maybe in the near future there will be a feature add'd to the coolshrimp tool for a tick box for custom points when you tick it 2 drop box's un-grey and have options

example:
[X] custom TMS/TDI points

[TMS drop down box]
option
option
option

[TDI drop down box]
option
option
option

that would make this tool really the cats ass and pretty much eliminate the need for manual SMC editing at least thats my opinion

if thats the case perhaps i will find the version before 3.0 and use it for the transistor method
what are the bugs in the previous version, any thing serious?
suppose i could just use it to make the freeboot.bin

At first I wired up my Zephyr using the transistor wiring but I noticed there was no option for AUD_CLAMP ONLY (as in previous versions of the program). So I re-wired the whole thing using the AUD_CLAM and DVD_Tray points. This isn't working so well for me.

Well, it seemed to work - but it still decides to eject the tray and boot into Xell sometimes :(.

Where can I get older versions of the JTAG tool?

@korn_16_f_t_l
The 100 Ohm resistor works great, no problems. I have JTAGed a couple Zephyr consoles before using 100 Ohm resistors instead of a direct bridge.
