Hello fellow Modders,

I am having some challenges with creating a freeboot.bin file using Coolshrimp's 1.74 program.

When at the Freeboot creation step:
- I understand the 'Mem Editing' and 'XB1 Compatibility' options are backwards
- I also understand when receiving the error message "Could not find file 'bin\Mem\jasper 256.bin", I have to go back to the JTAG Tool 'bin' program folder and rename to jasper 256.bin.

This is the step where I am stuck. As I continue with Coolshrimp's program, I get an error message:

ERROR: Too many arguments passed.
Press any key to continue

As I press any key, I am to name the .bin file to be created. Once done, I get a message "FeeBOOT.bin Was Not Created"

I am stuck and would appreciate any help you guys can give me. I tried to do this manually without success. It was quite tedious and I would try again, but I would prefer to use Coolshrimp's tool. Besides, I am pretty sure I did all the correct steps manually without success. I all tried FreeBoot's ToolBox Maker v2.4r3, but received an error on that.

Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

This is one of the major bugs in Jtag Tool that it is not able to create a freeBOOT image for Big Block Jaspers. Therefore, whatever you try, it won't be able to make a freeBOOT image for you.

Now, the best option for you is to make a freeBOOT image manually. Get freeBOOT 0.032 from Xbins and follow the instructions included with it Or follow the big_ted's tutorial. The 9199.zip that is needed for making freeBOOT can also be found at Xbins. Also, get Easy FreeBoot v2 if you don't like to use CMD and want to automate the process.

Thanks. See I read that, but the release notes for v1.74 does indicate support for BBJaspers. I guess this was incorrect?

Also, any inside information on v2.0 release? I saw he was working on it at the beginning of August. Hopefully this issue would be resolved on it. I guess, I'll have to keep trying manually

Why is the choice between XB1 & Mem compatibility still there? The patches should have just been replaced with DashLaunch v2.0 patches...

OMG, I think I just completed the JTAG. It's a miracle. Just have to test this out. I am researching my next steps. Just thought I would share.

So i finally got around to installing the nand-x on one of my jtagable xbox's. I soldered everything correctly and hooked up the reader.

Here's a screen shot of all the errors i get.

I get error 204, 210 and 250. I read that 250 is all 0's which i'm not really concerned about but all these errors make me think i have something hooked up wrong.

The xbox is a Jasper 256mb, and i'm using windows 7 64 bit. Here's a picture of the nand-x boards soldered in.

Please let me know if you need any other information, or if i have to make my own thread for this issue.

Thanks in advance.

New Dash Support Enjoy..
Thanks CS. You don't mind telling which particular files on the new tool handles the SMC's?

Edit: I might have found it but correct me if I'm wrong, now you only use one SMC 12kb file located in the mydata folder instead of individual one for each board as used in the old version?

Thanks Again ...

Xbox360 will not boot up (only the middle light stays lit) after writing New Dash with Jtag Tool. (It works when revert back to freeboot .9199)
Anybody know what gives?

You should know by now that we need to know more details about your setup and problem than just a brush of it.

Type of board, standard or alternate smc points used, etc.

It's Falcon already installed with Freeboot .9199.
Here's what I did. I run Jtag Tool 2.12, insert the CPU Key then Create a Kinect Dash Image from stock nand then Write it. Boot up my Xbox360 with Eject or Power button, both = black screens with only the ROL middle light is Lit. Rewrite freeboot .9199 and it works fine.

Any idea what I did wrong? no alt point used

Are you using the standard jtag points DB1F1 and ROL? Are there any bad blocks from your original NAND??????????
