Sweet!!!

I gotta question though... if the controlers are wireless... are they going to be rechargable... if not that'll suck butt.

I'm guessing that they're IR, cause there's IR ports on them so.. that means that you need line of sight for the controller...

that might suck too...

The controllers are wireless and can be charged with USB. I doubt it will be IR, but rather something like bluetooth.

Will Xecuter be able to make a chip, also for xbox 360, and will things work the same way it did with the old xbox? same dash, same way of flashing and so on? What about the dvd-roms, can they read normal cd-r this time? And will the harddrive be as simple to change as it is with xbox? anyone know answers to some of this?

Yeah, I just re-watched the video and they show the radio card for the controllers... so I guess that's cool. They can be recharged?

I personally hate wireless controllers becasue as your battery fails your controller degrades...

So they're USB into the box? Where on the back of the thing?

QUOTED from http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/608/608394p1.html

What kind of disc drive will the system use? Will it employ or support Blu-ray or HD-DVD?
Xbox 360 will use a standard DVD drive like the original Xbox, though it's said that most games will be dual-layer DVDs, holding over 9GB of data. As such, it will support neither Blu-ray nor HD-DVD.
The reasoning is that even if Blu-ray or HD-DVD drives launch before Xbox 360, they'll be very expensive and would drive the system cost through the roof.

How fast will the DVD drive be?
12X.

What disc formats will the Xbox 360 support?
Progressive-scan DVD movie playback out of the box; DVD and CD music and photo playback out of the box; support for DVD-Video, DVD-ROM, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, WMA CD, MP3 CD, JPEG Photo CD.

Will Xbox 360 have a hard drive? How big will it be?
Yes, there is a removable 20 gigabyte hard drive included with every console. Players can remove the drive and carry it to a friend's house to transfer large amounts of information.

Other than adding a bigger hard drive, is there any other way the Xbox 360 can be upgraded?
Absolutely. Xbox 360 was designed with incredible flexibility in mind. Anyone who owns a Media Center PC can have some extreme fun with the two systems. Connect the two together, and you can stream high definition TV and movies to the Xbox 360. You can talk to friends across the country through the Xbox Live headset while you watch TV. All of that right at launch this Christmas holiday season.

It's funny though, apart from the games being exclusive to XENON, none of that info interested me 'cos my XBOX can do all the media player stuff. Don't think I'll bother getting a XENON.

freakzilla: well, once homebrew coding on x360 takes off... i guess the xbmc project will be ported soon enough, with the necessary performance upgrades taking advantage of the HUMONGOUS power of the x360...
i'll be getting one the day teamx releases their chip ^_^

Yes it has better power than XBOX, but with xbox media center, I have never had any problems playing hdd dvd backups or anything, so xbox is good enough power.

how can you say these are official specs? they aren't "official", it's the first batch of specs released:

The specs could not be 100% final as Microsoft adds this below the specifications on their website: "this fact sheet relates to a prerelease product that may be substantially modified before its first commercial release".

Damn, if this thing can run say, OSX, it may be able to run say, Matlab and with 6 processing threads for number crunching...! Wicked! Anybody seen any possible pre-specs on CPU cache?

Interesting thought....the infamous PS2 Emulator on the XBOX thread seems to flood the forums, so the Idea came into my head. The XBOX right now can emulate something as powerful as a Playstation or N64....so....when the XBOX 360 is cracked and a Mod-Chip developer goes at it and Homebrew scene makes an emulator etc..Do you think the 360 [with its uber powerful components] can Emualte something like a PS2 or GameCube? I could careless about either of the two, I personally want a Dreamcast Emu more than anything.

It might be possible...but how well it would run is a different story. We'll just have to wait and see.

I feel like from what we've seen, the xbox 360 is like a modded xbox with a more power. Graphics have made huge revolutionary leaps, but now it's all about refinement. While the 360 will make a big push into HD, it continues up the logarithmic slope of each year more powerful hardware allowing for more realistic graphics. It's not revolutionary, it's just more of what we have now, and this has been happening on a slow slope each year in PC games since Unreal and that generation. As far as the USB's, we have them. Media sync? Little less convenient, but we can do it. Wireless controllers? Got it. Buying media and skins and content online? Game modding exists, level modding exists, it's underground and limited but it exists and it's free. And free live? I've been using Kai for a while, same thing. It's nice that the new console is all together and powerful and official, but I'm just not excited about it. Until I read that it was a fake, that Nintendo On video excited me, that seemed like it was gaming outside the box, not gaming with better hardware for better graphics on the same games. (All advertised titles are just sequels to games we already know, an obvious strategy to make people associate the console with things they already enjoy, but still lacking IMHO) To those who get it and enjoy it and play it, I'm happy for you, but my modded Xbox alongside my media server and my media center PC will keep me amused for now.

If they want to be able to ship the thing in November they can't change the console anymore. Manufacturers have to start producing components, MS needs to put things together, etc. Besides, they'll have contracts now for these components.

Yeah I totally agree. It's basically like a beefed-up xbox, (yet smaller in physical size), with a media center that probably can't do illegal things as good as XBMC can (since ms media center is legal), and better online capabilities, which will not be of interest to quite a few XBOX360 owners.
