Official SX OS v3.0.3 Beta Discussion

We are back with a minor (yet important!) update for SX OS, as well as an PC utility for updating your SX Core/Lite firmware over USB. The latter is required for people who ran tools that were not designed for their Switch console. One example is the popular `Choi Du Jour NX`, which people use to upgrade/downgrade their firmware. This tool was designed for classic erista/rcm consoles, and as such is dangerous to use on mariko consoles.

That said, lets have a look at the official changelog:
  • SX Core/Lite firmware v1.3
SX Core/Lite users will be prompted to install a firmware update upon first launch of SX OS 3.0.3. This is a mandatory update that improves the stability of SX Core/Lite. It also adds hardening against accidental bricks that were caused by running tools designed for Erista/RCM consoles on. People who are unable to run SX OS v3.0.3 because they bricked their consoles are advised to run the standalone USB updater application.
  • New functionality added to SX Core menu
The SX Core menu in the SX OS boot menu has been enriched with some new functionality for advanced users:
    • Cleanup:
Will remove any trace of SX Core/Lite on your NAND.
    • Genuine Boot:
Boot straight into original firmware without going through the typical SX OS bootchain. This is *different* from using the regular boot original firmware functionality, for example you won't be protected from getting your fuses burnt. Only use when you know what you are doing!
  • Minor stability improvements
You know the drill! Under the hood we're always changing things, to increase both stability and performance of your beloved SX OS.
Both SX OS 3.0.3 as well as the `SX Flasher` application (Currently only for Windows, if there is enough demand we will consider releasing ports for OSX and Linux) are available in the downloads section on our website. Of course you can also use the over-the-air update functionality from within SX OS!

That's it for today. Stay tuned for more news!

Is this update necessary for people not using patched switches? Any benefits for unpatched devices?

Thank you SX OS team!

In case it helps anyone whose experiencing/experiences similar black screen issue, here's the issue I just had and how it was fixed:

1) Updated Emunand firmware version from 10.0.3 to 10.0.4 using the usual offline ChoiDj method - had already updated sx os 3.0.3 boot.dat
2) At the end of ChoiDj I usually select 'Reboot Now' but then only got a black screen
3) Black screen issue persisted. Despite ensuring SX OS dongle had charge, and ensuring the switch was actually off and not stuck on a black screen by holding the power button off for while
4) Slotted the SX OS dongle back in as usual where it was not lighting up blue/green, but this time holding the power button little longer than normally required resolved the issue and the SX OS splash page loaded up once again as desired

- Ensure dongle/switch has charge
- hold down the power button with SX OS dongle in for little longer than you usually do

It still doesnt boot any other payloads!! I cant boot Lockpick_RCM

Question, i never booted SXOS on my sysNAND, i first created an EmuNAND, then activated the license offline, then proceeded to use only EmuNAND CFW, this option:

Will remove any trace of SX Core/Lite on your NAND.

What does it do for me as an SX Core user? Did you guys installed something onto the sysNAND that i am not aware of? What is that option meant to do if i never used CFW on my SysNAND?

Not sure if this is the issue others have been having, but my wife updated via nintendo servers to 10.0.4 and even though I installed this new beta version, I was getting black screen after nintendo. It messed up the exfat loading. I had to use another sdcard formatted to fat32, then downgrade to 10.0.3 with choidujour, then upgrade back to 10.0.4 with the exfat option, and now my old card works fine again.

Added 3.0.3 to my unpatched Switch. Anyone else having trouble booting with the SX USB dongle with this update? Android app works fine but the dongle won't give me the green light (yes, I did charge it first), SX boot screen, or anything.
