it doesnt matter if the mobo is fried, broken, fixed whatever. mine was broken too. nothing would fix it, so i sent my xbox to a cousin and then said it broke in the mail. i filed a claim with usps not ups and now have 357.48 to spend on a new xbox. and no i didnt get to keep the old xbox but i have a big fat check to get a new one. when i bought the xbox it was around $180 and now they aren't as expensive so i actually made money.

you can keep the working parts, just give them the broken ones lol. like if the dvd drive is working just give them the xbox w/o the dvd drive.

Hey,
It's bad enough you commited mail fraud using UPS. If you used the United States Mail they would be knocking on your door soon enough.

people should use a little more common sense when posting illegal activities.

Also, I would still check for a burned fuse. I know you said you don't think it could be a fuse but that's what they are there for to burn up and stop current flow before things go really bad.
Wouldn't hurt to at least check.

ok, well there IS continuity between the curcuits that i thought were burned, so maybe that is the problem. how would i go about checking that (don't know where the fuses are)?

also, a friend of mine has a box that won't boot up at all. he thinks its the mobo, but i don't think complete power failure is the mobo. i told him it was probably the powersupply, but i don't know for sure.

thanks floppy. good stuff :D

but, before i go desolder the damn thing, i have one question - would a blown fuse cause the box not to power at all? cause it just seems odd that a blown fuse would let a box power up and then FRAG.

If the fuse in the power supply is blown the xbox would NOT power up. You might have blown a transistor. That would explain the spark and pop. Do not replace the fuse.

If you have the stock hard drive then try to put that in ther if the drive is locked. Take the x3 chip off. Tip: never plug things back up with the power on.

the box FRAGs. period. it frags with or without a chip, it frags with or without drives. unless its a blown transistor or something, im gonna have to buckle down and find a new mobo.
