What do i have to do to get it to play backups now? I can't dowlnload slayer's auto installer because i am on very slow dialup. I copied the c drive of my modded box to my computer hard drive so can i get the files i need from there to my "in progress" box somehow?

After i get past the rox your box screen it seems to just go into the normal xbox hard drive with the selections of music memory etc. It won't recognize any of my backups. Could somebody point me in the right direction? I can't even see straight anymore and i gotta get this xbox back to my nephew tommorrow.

BY "in progress" i mean that I have the bios installed and when i load it with chip enabled it goes xecuter2 config live then it has the rox my box screen, then it goes to the microsoft memory where u can choose from music, memory etc. I havn't installed any dash yet or messed with the hard drive.

I downloaded the image file for evox dash but freakin nero will only rcognize it as a cd image and won't let me write it to a dvd. The xbox won't read cdr's so this is useless to me.

i tried making an iso image of the c drive from my working modded box to put on a dvd r to put in the box i am working on, using quix, but the same thing happens, nero won't wrrite it to a dvd-r and keeps telling me to put in a cd-r. I am really rdy to scream. I need this @%$#@% xbox to work already!

I don't have any cd-rw's is there any other way to get these files recognized? There must be a way to put them on dvd-r. The thing is after the rox my box screen it seems to go into the microsoft os and it won't even recognize my dvdr backup games.

I'm not really going to smash it, as much as i feel like it right now. The problem seems to be that right after the rox my box screen it goes into msdash, where you select memory, music, settings etc. I think that is why it won't recognize burnt media. I don't even need any of this dash stuff on there. I only want it to play backups. Isn't there a bios that will boot backup games without having to mess with this dashboard stuff? When i flashed my buddy's bios we could boot games off it right away. I don't understand why i need to install a dashboard on this one to get it to work. Is there a different bios that would work better?

you keep saying bios this bios that....i mean yes, the bios IS what tells the xbox if it can read the media or not...

but you keep saying its booting to the M$dash.... to me, that sounds like the chip isnt installed right

ok this may make things clearer. It seems the dvd drive is not recognizing anything wether the chip is on or off. The chip and bios may be functioning just fine. What reason could there be for a dvd drive not reading anything? Even original xbox games will not be recognized with the chip enabled or disabled. Is there something obvious(to you pros) that would cause this problem? I took off the metal cover and made sure the laser lens was clean, but that made no difference at all
