RGH Old hdd with a new RGH slim ?

I'm getting my slim RGH'ed by a pro. I assume it will come back with just a modified dash. I have a existing 250Gb drive that I used. Will i have to reformat the drive to use with the new dash? I don't care about any saved games or such. I believe the first thing to do is install Xexmenu and then Fsd. Thanks
