Old Thompson and 1.4 mobo problems???

I just took a 1.4 mobo & new poer supply & installed a x2. CE. It was successful and I see the Flash Bios 2.6 screen with no HD or DVD installed.

Whe I plug in the yellow power cord for the DVD, the scrren flickers & the box shuts down>

Any clues?

Why are you booting without the hard drive and DVD drive? You can't plug the DVD drive in after the Xbox has powered up.
