So I have a customers box that had LT+1.1 on it and his buddy put in a new game and hit update. Now when you turn the box on all you get is "Cant read the update from the disc. Please reinsert the disc to continue the update."
I flashed the drive to stock 442 as this is what it is showing up as in JF.
I have tryed to update from a backup and I get the same thing.
I tryed to update from a USB with disc out and get the same thing.
I am pluged into live and get the same thing.

What can I do to get the update to finish??

Flash the drive with 1.91 and insert the disc he used for update. Make sure there is a hard drive plugged in then restart console.

I've had loads of these recently where it wouldn't update on stock after that happened.

Flash with llt 1.91 CFW, and proced with the update from your backup. If you flashed to stock, it can't still read the backup, so use the original.

which ever way you try it.you still going to need your drive as stock to do the update to 13599 dash.

You don't need your drive at stock if you put 1.91 on as the dash checks what firmware version you have and since 1.91 is a custom version of the newest stock firmware the console thinks the drive is already up to date and skips the rewrite.

Also he doesn't need to go to stock again now sorted as like I said the update skipped the rewrite so it still has 1.91 on hence why the back up still plays after update.

I've done a few of these latest being yesterday.

I was always told to revert back to stock on system updates, and ok for game updates as long as you're up to date on your latest <fw>.

That's usually correct however this was a different situation. It was failed half way through update so console would not boot unless you had the game disc in. If he went to stock he would of had to use his original and like I said I presumed he lost his original and only had his back up to hand.
