Hi.

I've got an extremely weird problem. I flashed two drives today, both of which were 74850's.

Done the usual procedure; unplug ribbon cable, flashed it, plugged ribbon cable and put it back in the box.

Now both Xbox's display Open Tray message according to the guy I have done them for.

To test it wasn't the firmware, I have just flashed my own drive and everything is working perfect.

Does anyone know what this could be as it can't be the firmware and it can't be that the laser is dead as I unplugged the cable and the chances of them both dying is surely extremely small?

Kind Regards
Tom.

EDIT: They are both 02510C's by the way.

1) did you put the ribbon back right?

2) were the drives flashed previously? because sometimes the drives laser may be good enough to read originals but not backup disks.

3) does it do this with backups or originals or both?

hope this helps.

Yes I'm sure I did if one wasn't working then I could think yeah maybe its the ribbon but two is very doubtful.

Drives were flashed previously yes so I know they are capable of playing backups and nope it doesn't play anything; dvd's, cd's, backup's or originals.

Really, really strange.

Since you didn't test them I'm guessing you were only sent the drives.

Did you use a Dummy Bin? If so is it possible you have flashed the keys the wrong way round? If not maybe your customer put the drives back the wrong way round?

Other questions:

Do Originals work?
Does it Play a DVD?

I highly doubt I would have flashed the wrong keys. Well I know for certain as with one of them I used the dummy but the other one I used the Phat Key method on it. I also put the drives back in so I know they went in the correct one.

Nothing works at all apparantly - I just don't get it.

Is there anything else it could be?

best thing to do is get the consoles back and test them yourself.

was you given just the drives or the full console when you flashed them.
