Open Tray Error - Even originals dont work

Hi,

I'm having a Samsung ms28 and I've flashed it with Xtreme 5.3c.

The problem is, it plays audio CDs fine, but does not play any DVD - movies, originals or backup. I've tried with the rubber band trick also, no luck.

If the problem is with the laser, then it should not play audio CDs also right?

Did you insert the dvd drive key into your firmware that you flashed? For some reason im guessing that you did not and thats why it will only play dvd's and cd's. If you dont have a backup of your firmware your xbox will reduced to a dvd player.

The problem was there even before i flashed to 5.3c. It happened right after I played Bioshock for the first time and it was a backup copy which I burned onto a DL DVD. After playing it for some 2 hours I shut down the console. The next day onwards it won't run anything.

So I thought may be flashing to the latest firmware will solve the issue and hence flashed it to 5.3c.

Moreover I used Xtreme Boot Maker to prepare the USB key,hence no manual process of inserting the key into the firmware.

Also let me make it clear that it runs only CDs and does not play any DVD, it doesn't play even the movie DVDs.

What could be the problem?

knackered laser if its able to read cds and not dvds etc and you say it was working before its defo a broke laser but dont worry you can pick them up on ebay for 20 bucks/£10 ....... then search the forum / google on how to replace the laser ...

ps .. i could be totally wrong its just what i thinks wrong ?? :s

I've ordered for a new HD63 laser.

Assuming that the problem is with the laser, what could've damaged the laser? I actually used a bad media to burn Bioshock, could it be the reason?

Mine did same thing. I replaced the laser and it works fine now.
