Hey all, my slim recently got stuck on an open tray error, basicly what happens is you put a disc in (or no disc), close the drive, you hear a short 'beep', it spins for half a second then gives open tray error
I tried several different types of discs (dvd's, original games, back ups). Also, when the drive closes, the laser doesn't light up (if that is visible with the naked eye or a phone camera atleast), so I ordered a new laser, which surprisingly didn't work either. I moved the laser all the way to the back of the drive, and when opening/closing the laser goes back to the front so the motor isn't the issue, could it be the ribbon or something?

What else can I do?

Laser cud be at fault even though it is a new laser as there are some crap lasers being sold. Also make sure u remove the anti static solder blob wen fitting new laser. Cud be worm motor, cud be spindle motor, laser ribbon, pcb fault.

if the disc spins once then stops it 99% laser prob , as stated if you brought a new one which might not be new make sure you have removed the solder
