No worries bud, I wouldn't hold you responsible for a suggestion because the choice to act is mine and mine alone lol
Tho, I did think of wimping out and contacting bandit123, cos he appears to be quite close to where I live.

Is the community of the opinion that my issue it is a faulty TX Board? Are there any further suggestions before I contact the reseller for a replacement?

Cheers in advance
If ur Original Pcb Was MXIC U Can Simply Unlock It Via Sputink Switch or Probe !

Just an update on my predicament....

I eventually forked out for a new iron and did the soldering myself :)

However....
With the original board, the laser read all originals fine! so I reinstalled the stock flashed tx board, originals worked. I flashed with 1.92 (laser disconnected ;) ) and still got open tray with originals (still haven't made backups).

Suggestions please, thanks in advance

hey.. i thought POUT fix was for slims that didn't eject after kamikaze method ??

open tray would be a laser issue no ??
that was a response to a HIJACK!
the guy had a slim drive - 0225 - no more help on this thread!!!

AAArrrrggghhh!

I had it working perfectly last night, albeit open case for testing purposes.
Reassembled the Xbox. and laid it away til this morning, booted it up and got the open tray error...WTF! so I dismantled it again checked the connections, looked for a short in the dvd against the housing - appeared fine. booted while still open case and the ruddy thing is still giving open tray error!

yeah, same thing happened with me mate. Look, take off all the ribbons and the colored cables. Reflash it with LT + 1.92 cooked on JF 0.185 ( as in, open traget fw, open lt+ 1.92, spoof source to target, save file). THen using The latest jf, flash the cfw u just made. It worked with me :) so far, no open trays. lets hope it keeps working. PM me if u face any issues. Fixed my TX PCB open tray 4 times now ^^

you shouldn't get constant open tray errors coming back.....one thing to double check is sometimes there is the smallest piece of conductive thread near the solder points on the TX PCB -it's soo small u can hardly see it...check to make sure the points are clear......double check the connections in the connector block to make sure they are good - also check continuity if u can. Try a reflash as suggested, then report back ;)
