edit: misread the issue. Though you were trying to swap a new pcb with an old one rather than swap the working pcb into a diff drive. my bad! Thanks martin.

Did you spoof your key to the new pcb manually? The key sector on hitachi drives is not flashed by default. You must do it manually.
If the original PCB was working, there's absolutely nothing to spoof.

Drive A (the one that has the original key stock) had this xbox for atleast 3 years wanted to flash it since i had a spare xexon lying around but after using that for playing my backups i now want to play it on my xbox and also the laser was dying

Drive B (manually spoofed the key from drive A) this was the xexon i still having lying a round due to the display not working and it could play backups so i swapped the two boards

And now it only displays Open Tray every time i put in a disc or cd (gonna put up pics just unscrewing to show the boards)

I don't understand what you're saying - which 'wrong key'? If the key is incorrect you won't be able to use the drive. Are you sure you haven't plugged the wire in the wrong way and damaged the board?

If the drives are identical and you're sure the new drive works, we have to view your pics to try and isolate the problem
