open tray/nme360 mod inconsistent

first off great forum, a have looked hard and found several similar threads but nothing that has helped.

the problem is open tray on burned disc comes and goes ,some will load some wont,after a period of time they will load again.i have one game "PREY "that i cant get to load.

Installed by a reliable tech that I have used since my original xbox,he also burns for me ,I dont have the time to do it myself.
I have opened the unit to try the rubber band fix,after all games but one loaded, again this prob is inconsistent so I dont know if this was a fix or a fluk

well this is your potential problem. media code: RITEK...D01. sure they will probably work for a while but will eventually degrade and become unplayable. you put more than normal stress on drive using low grade media.

i didnt know that the discs could damage you 360, i just thought that they degraded over time. you learn something new everyday.
