"Open Tray" with disc in drive after kamikaze hack using maximus template package
I did the kamikaze hack on my liteon 0401 yesterday using the template from maximus, the latest jungleflasher, the drill that came with the template and the x360usb. I connected everything up and read the firmware from my drive before anything else. Then I clicked the unlock box and then, very slowly and with light pressure, I started turning the drill that came with the template kit in the hole on the template. I turned about a quarter turn at a time and paused slightly as to make sure I didnt go to far. Eventually the box read 0x00 and it did that beep. Since I was going so slowly and pausing slightly after quarter turns I literally didnt drill even the slightest but more once the box changed and it beeped. Everything associated with the firmware worked fine at that point. I read the full f/w, loaded the LT+ 2.0, wrote the f/w, locked the drive, then did the outro and I got the full outro message with the key and everything. I even tested it out by unlocking it with alcohol and locking it again and it worked fine and still got a full outro message after that.
The problem comes when I put everything back together and turn it on. Once on, it looks normal and the drive opens normal but once I close the drive it says "reading..." for like a second and then it goes back to "open tray". It does this with regular and burned games. I hear the drive spinning and it can eject and close fine and the 360 works fine otherwise. I tried rebooting the xbox, opening the tray manually, opening it with the controller and they all have the same result.
The thing I cant understand is I used the template (so the hole was in the right spot), used a .8mm bit (so the hole wasnt too big), hand-drilled so slowly that I literally didnt turn the drill the slightest bit after the box changed to 0x00 (so it didnt go in too deep) and i still ended up with drive problems. With all those things being the way they are how can that be? Also, this is the second liteon 0401 I did using the same template and hand-drill and drill bit so I know this stuff works properly. So is this a problem that can be solved by soldering the 3.3v to the pout and doing that whole fix? I also read somewhere that hitting the outro button on jf again and again a few times has fixed this issue. Also, I didn't really think about this when I was doing the drive since its a slim but considering pretty much every phat model needed this to work, do the laser pots need to be adjusted on the slim model dvd drives? I know that fixed a lot of open tray errors on the phat models when I cranked the laser pot to 3.0 ohms. Any advice would be appreciated.
I should mention at this point I have modded and repaired a large amount of xboxes and other consoles and do board-level IT work for a living so feel free to give advice that is difficult and/or technical as it shouldn't be an issue. Thank you.
