Just taken my original 2.6 out of my older non 1.6 box, was working perfectly.

Done the LPC rebuild with wires on the 1.6

Removed 5v pin from header.

Fitted alternate 5V to Reg

Fitted Red, Green and Grey wires to board

With Chip disable box boots as normal

With Chip enabled box powers for a second then shuts down?

Is this a symptom of wrong flash? I see I need a new flash for 1.6/b or is this likely to be something else? I will take the 2.6 out and refit to older box so I can flash bios correctly but is this what happens when you have the wrong flash?

Very likely a FRAG due to incompatible BIOS. The 1.6 mobos need a different BIOS than the 1.0-1.5 units. Look in the X2CL 5035 archive for example, you will see vOld and v1.6plus versions. You can probably figure out which BIOS is for which group of boxes.

If your alternate bank is not bootable then relocating back to the other box is probably the easiest route. From there you'll want to flash a 1.6 compatible BIOS (recommend using FlashX) so that the chip will then work on the 1.6. Be aware that this *will* break the chip for the non-1.6 box until you put a vOld type BIOS back on the chip.
