Im upgrading a v1.0 Xbox for a friend, already got it softmodded with NDURE and Mechassault.

However Im having issues with the HDD cloning process.
I used chimp 2.4 and 2.6 off of original HDD and DVD respectively.

Clone to slave -> lock slave -> replaced old HDD with new 500GB (tried with 250GB too)

Im using this IDE to sata adapter and CHIMP sees the HDD and clones to it (jumpers are set to master/slave accordingly)
I always get an error 13 upon booting the xbox with the new HDD... any ideas?

Ive done this on 3 other xbox's but never a v1.0, Ive had the most trouble with v1.0's so I tend to avoid them.

Its not a locking issue though... It looks like a cloning issue. Error 13 is failure to load dash files, while error 5-6 would be HDD Lock/unlock failure.

The stock bios will not recognise a HDD over 120GB, If I remember correctly. Flash the TSOP, and go from there. Also, I have always used HDDhackr to set up the hdds for my old xbox.

>120GB for a v1.0 xbox, maybe? I have a 250GB HDD in my v1.6 and it works fine, no TSOP just standard NDURE install with hotswap method.
I used XboxHDM to originally rebuild my drive but then just unlocked with XBHDM and used 'DD' on linux to clone the drive to a larger one, Simply booted chimp afterward and expanded the partitions.

Ill look into TSOP, just need to find the linux disk that allows TSOP.

Anyone have any good links to a TSOP tut?

I've been reading around, seems like I should be able to FTP the Xecuter2 5035 bios to C:\BIOS\bios.bin

then use EvoX installed as an app to flash this after enabling write on the TSOP.

My question is some people mention modifying the Bios before putting on the Xbox to flash. Because the x2 bios is a multi bios do I even need to modify it or the Xbox in any way other than soldering the write points on the motherboard to flash the bin file?

I would run xbtool, and leave just about everything stock. just make sure to set up the size to fit the bios on you xbox. if not you will have to find a 1st gen xbox modchip(28 wire) to repair the onboard bios. But if you want you can always modify the xbox logo colors, and the paths. and if it is a v1.0 you can install a switch, and make it work as a dual boot. Not much of a point anymore, as the original xbox is not supported by xbox live anymore.

So I grabbed 'x2_5035_vOLD_512k.bin' and clicked 'open' in Xbtool 1.0.23a but it just says unsupported kernel at the top and wont let me change any of the parameters. It also wont let me even save the file so Im not sure what the deal is.
Or in this case since the x2.5035 bios is a CONFIG LIVE bios I can simply place the config file on 'E:\' configure as necessary then flash the BIOS?
XBtool was capable of expanding the 512k BIOS to 1024k so now I have 'x2_5035_vOLD_512k.bin' and 'x2_5035_vOLD_1024k.bin' being 512k and 1024k respectively.

Also when you say "set up the size to fit the bios on you xbox" the x2.5035 bios file is 512kb and if I researched correctly the Xbox v1.0 BIOS is 1024kb so if I get this working do I set the size to that of the Xbox v1.0 or that of the X2 BIOS?

there is a 256k, 512k and a 1mb bios. please read all of the information in the rar file again, if it is a v1.0 then either 512k or 1mb. This is the file you want to download from xbins: 4981.06_256k.bin then follow the guide again.

I read the guide and even got x2.4981 bios, however I was doing some more reading around here and on xbox-scene and found some newer threads that just recommended using the x2.5035 bios because it added much larger HDD support and the INI can be modified instead of re-flashing if changes need to be made.

I have the flash part down I am just wondering now if I need to use XBtool to resize the 512k x2.5035 bios file to 1024k or would it be kosher to just flash the x2.5035 BIN to the v1 xbox without modification. None of the posts I found mentioned if re-sizing for 5035 was needed, also because XBtool does not seem to officially support x2.5035.

Well thanks for all your guy's help, it worked, flashed the x2 5035 bios with no modifications and it worked great. With the Stock HDD in the xbox boots right into UnleashX and I can load all the homebrew I need.

But Im still having trouble with the bigger HDD, I plopped in a new HDD with a known working SATA/IDE adapter, but the xbox wont load HeXen. It just sits with the white text "Loading Config Live" and does nothing.

This thing is kicking my butt. :mad2:

Got it all sorted out. Turns out the SATA/IDE adapter I was using just does not work in the master slot on the Xbox. Tried a native IDE drive and it worked great 1st try.

Thanks
