Oh ok. Well im new to the modding but Ive done my research. :cool:

I have a Xbox v1.1

Just ordered a Clear Crystal Case w/ a Control Panel
Maxtor 120 GB Hard Drive
Xecuter 3 chip

Im just waiting for everything to get here. I will order this cable also and see if theres a good way to make it fit into the case. Its only $5 so I think its worth a try. Ill post when I recieve the cable.

Thanks

i had just a round one in my box. the biggest problem i ran into is getting it to fit. there was only so much room between the the case and drives. i wish u the best of luck with it. it sounds like it will look cool. good luck.

I just dumped a 166 cable from Llama in mine. While the box is supposed to be locked at 33 and it shouldnt make a difference I find that my XBMC loads @ 10 seconds faster than it did using stock.

Go figure.

It's really strange. We seem to get mixed results with this mod. Some people claim it makes a big difference; others claim it makes no difference. Interesting... makes me wonder if M$ locked EVERY box at 33, or if some managed to escape unscathed.

@HarshReality:
I'm not trying to doubt you! I'm just saying that I've read many reports about this, each one with different conclusions.

Well as I understan with each new revision MS has cut corners to shave costs. My box being a 1.0 might be a fluke. Going to look and see if I can find a way to benchmark the thing.

They didnt lock them, the motherboard is a 66 ata bus speed, but seeing how dvd drives are 33 ata the whole thing automaticly defaults to the lowest speed on the channel, hence 33 ata... the cables shouldnt make a diffrence

i used these cables in my xbox... makes it difficult to close... always squeezes a bit... seems a waste to get air flow ide cables where you dont need air flow... personally i laugh when i see it now...

aha, was wondering why the ata 133 cables made such a difference in my xbox, my dvd drive is a modded samsung 616t. I did the same mod for my friend and it didn't seem to change a thing. BTW 1.0 box too as you can see in my sig. Only thing about the cables is it needs to kinda loop around after plugging into the dvd drive for those round ones, then it kinda cust across the space between the dvd and hdd, you'll see when you put them in.
