Password wrong. Try again!

Hi,
You'll probably guess that I'm a newbie. I've managed to password lock my X3 Bios. I was sure I had the correct password, but no matter how many times I enter it - or anything similar, all I get is the 'Password wrong. Try again!' message.

I'm running X3 Bios Build 1957 on bank 1 and have managed to get Build 2913 into bank 2, but which ever choose to boot from, I get the same password prompt.

I have managed to fins an erase file with x3 bios 1959, but cannot find instructions anywhere on how to apply this and save my poor xbox.

Could someone possibly help, or point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

P..

well this might not be the best way to fix your x3 problem... but since i dont have a x3 chip myself in front of me (although i have used em before) i cant tell u a possibly better answer... but try this... reflash the chips first 4 banks with flashbios (use newest version)... then turn off xbox and turn it back on, then reflash to the newest X3 bios... im assuming this should work since it would completely erase the x3 bios from the first 4 banks therefor removeing any settings on the x3 bios's and getting rid of that password ;)

also since u said u got x3.1957 on the first 4 banks and u said u got another x3 bios on the second 4 banks... u gonna have to boot up the xbox to it's backup bios (press eject and power at same time) then flash the first 4 banks with the newest x3 bios.

just know what your doing before doing anything ;)

RTFM:
The default.xbe (x3_erase) app is to erase all settings from the X3 EEprom in case you forget your password
and lock yourself out of X3 Config Live. This does NOT reset your video settings as they are stored on your
Xbox EEprom and not the X3.

ThaCrip,
Thanks for your assistance. I've tried your suggestion, but I think that because it's now password protected, the x3 will no longer allow a flash or either banks 1234 or 5678. I'm trying this via http and the session just hangs on the following:
Flash "X3 2913 v16plus.bin" (1024 kb) to slot :
Flash to bank #1, #2, #3 and #4
For some reason, it also won't boot into backup bios - the x3logo shows, but the boot doesn't get very far.

Thanks again, but I think I may have killed this x3 :(

Floppy Mohawk,
Thanks for the note. I had read this when trying to apply the x3_erase default.xbe. However, this does not tell you how to apply it. I have tried ftping this in ASCII then Binary to '/Admin/BIOS banks/1024k banks/bank 1+2+3+4/' directory and to the bank 5+6+7+8, but it does not appear to be helping - unless I'm being dense (more dense than locking the password in the first place that is).

After applying, the x3 bootted to either 1957 in bank 1234 or to 2913 in 5678, but the password prompt is still there in both. I still can't get passed this.

I have searched this and other forums, the Teamexecutor website and some of the associated links, but cannot find any advice on how to recover from this. I have posted here as a last resort. Any further assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers,

P..

Vyrus,
Thanks - yeah. believe it or not, out of sheer desperation, I have tried flashing with the protect switch in either position - same results - the browser hangs either way.

Send the X3_Erase folder to your xbox and run it as an app.

Floppy,
Thanks for that - I have managed to ftp it to the xbox c drive via ftp. How would I go about running this as an app? Sorry, but the xbox won't let me through the password prompt and selecting the default.xbe.

I've tried executing this in the ftp client from the copy on the xbox, but it makes no difference. Obviously, I'm still doing something wrong - I just don't know what ;)

Thanks again,

P..

OK,
Still getting nowhere with this. I have tried reflashing banks 1234 and 5678 to no avail. I have tried using the x3_erase tool, but cannot access the xbox to execute it most likely because of the password lock. I have tried ftping this direct to the bank 1234, bank 5678 and EEPROM directories under Admin on the xbox, but whatever I have tried, it remains the same.

It refuses to boot into backup mode - holding power+eject seems to boot correctly based in the x3logo, but I get no picture or sound - so clearly this is wrong.

Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated as I have been unable to find a single topic, tutorial or hint related to this on any of the forum's or websites I have been to - Am I the only person to have locket their x3 password??

Anyway, any further tips or assistance, would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers,

I got it !!!!!!!

o.k i had the same problem and i have been able to fix it !! dot think i had any sleep at night but finally i got it !!
just use the tool that makes a 1m bios out of 4 256k bios - its on the tools sections on xbox scene .
creat a 1m bios out of a m8 or an m8_1_6 if its a 1.6 .
use the flashbios on the x3 and flash it on 1234 . then run the x3 eeprom eraser and load the x3 bios again if you want to . you can use the x3 backup if you flashed all the bioses

well... gsxr600 !!

any way i just thought about it , if you are using a 1.6 it might be the reason why the backup wont work , can you put your hands on another box ? not a 1.6 .
if its possible you should install your x3 on the other box , run the backup , flash the 1m bios . (make sure you flash a 1.6 bios )
then put it back on yours and run the x3 eeprom eraser .
good luck

well u definately DONT want to flash your 1234 - 5678 with that .xbe file cause it's NOT a bios... it's a APP :)

anyways from what u saying... the BACKUP BIOS on your X3 might not support your XBOX... this is why i think it aint displaying anything on your screen... if thats the case and u screwed up both 1234 - 5678 ... you might be screwed unless u can put this chip in another xbox.

well my guess is... u might have flashbios 3.0.1 or older on the x3 backup bios and u might be using a 1.6(b) xbox... if this is the case this is probably why u cant see anything on the screen...

cause here is what it says in the official readme for the "Flashbios v3.0.3" program...

"Tested working on v1.0 v1.1 v1.2 v1.3 v1.4 v1.5 v1.6 v1.6b

Some users reported sometimes slow boot on v1.6 but perfect on all others inc v1.6b

For v1.6b detection RAM is usually Hynix and v1.6 RAM is usually Samsung"

what xbox version u got anyways? u never told anyone that.

Gixer,

Thanks for your post. I had the same problem and searched for 9-10 hrs. for a solution. Your suggestion worked and I'm now up and running on 2913.
Thanks again for your help!
