I have been having problems lately with my Flashed PCB LT 3.0+ playing my originals but plays backups fine. So i decided to reflash it again with LT 3.0+ and it is still buggy and plays some originals but not all. I finally got tired of it and flashed with Original firmware "Orig-0225.bin". Now it will not play either flashed (of course) or Originals.

I also noticed there is another Original in the 0225 folder named "Orig-0225u.bin" not sure if i put it in there or if it is a alternative. Im not sure. I havent tried that yet cuz im the worry type.

DG-16D4S
MXIC
PCB
Rev 0225

Flashed-
Backup-Plays fine, requires a reboot everyone in awhile because of rare errors
Originals- Only half of them play and i get mixed errors like "Mixed Media Disc, Unrecognized Disc, Play DVD"

Original Firmware
Backups- Says "play game, but no picture behind it" It just goes black screen then brings me back to dashboard on "play Game"
Originals- Says "Unrecognized Disc, Mixed Media Disc, Play DVD" Some say "play game" but they have to be super clean discs

So in the end im not sure if laser problems or what. Please let me know what you think guys!

I have narrowed it dwn and i defenitly need to replace the drive. (Or put a new laser in it)
If i were to replace the drive do i use the same dummy.bin from my broken drive? Even if the rev is different on the new DVD drive?
Basically what im asking is do i change my rev to the one on the new drive or do i keep the rev (and use the same dummy.bin) the same as my original drive?

You possibly flashed with the wrong CPU key. If it's attempting to play the game and backing out it's either a laser error or CPU key.

I'd double check the easiest first with the CPU key and Re-Flash to OFW.

If it is a laser issue, Buy a replacement drive/laser. Use your dummy.bin and create another CFW and flash.

CPU key?? Why the CPU key should be in drive?

OP, post your Dummy.bin, please.

please stop posting complete and utter BS.

CPU key is irrelevant to FW flashing.

i take it you mean DVD key?

and if he had flashed the incorrect DVD key none of his discs backup or original would boot AT ALL, and he has stated above that some booted previously, ruling out incorrect DVD key.

to the OP, change your laser in the drive, its obviously worn. theres no need to replace the whole drive either, only the laser. much simpler and cheaper instead of having to reflash drives etc.

Hi there,

I would possibly buy a replacement laser, as they are fairly cheap, and cheaper than the cost of a new drive. It depends on if you know how to fit in the new laser or not I suppose.

I have taken one of those drives apart before, and put it back together and it worked fine.

Just remember which screws and parts went where.

The easiest solution would be to buy a new drive, however I know the slim drive replacements are around £35-£40 here in the UK.

From my experience and understanding of your OP, I would suggest that it sounds like a laser issue.

Hope this helps ;)
