Has anyone tried the double shielded cable on a slim yet? Because of the thickness do you have to use a alternate point?

Thanks in advance.
I've used it on a slim, have to use the top alt point... however, it isn't much of a help since the longer you make the cable the harder it is to coil being thicker - and thus takes up more space. I used a segment about 8" long. Boot times varied, but typically not longer than 15-20 sec (granted, it could be a forgiving machine) Now, you can always put the QSB on the top so you can choose differing lengths and hopefully make it boot faster.

Here's my install:

Just as a side I have a Zephyr that I RGH'd with the included wiring in the Cool Runner and it boots on the first glitch every time. It may be an oddball but it does - Needless to say I did buy some small gauge coax just in case.

You don't have to coil it with the post qsb that's the point of it :)

Ahhh I already picked up some of that cable, tried it but didn't seem to make any difference. I have a slim thats being pretty sporadic with boot times, sometimes it's instant, sometimes within 30 seconds, sometimes upto 2 mins - and that was with post QSB too with 5-10 boots on each different point. Strangely I took the QSB off and tried traditional install and that seems to be giving the best consisitency so far (best of a bad bunch I might add) so was thinking of trying again using the cable and the topside CPU_RST point, if it makes any difference I'll post back.

anybody had better luck with zephyrs looking to see what i can do with this as i have one that just dont glitch
I have yet to come across any issues with anything except the xenons.

I have a CR setup strictly for DVD key recovery and I use the DVD 3.3v & GND (setup with an old DVD power cable) so there are only 4 wires to solder. Haven't had to do anything special, yet.

Just picked up some rg174 this week to try on slims.

Did 1st slim with the new cable yesterday

Used 8cm in combination with post QSB and this slim boots within second glitch every time with very no tweaking.

I will use this now on all slims. I had given up on the POST QSB's but will grab some more so that the rg174 is no direct on the board.

had a stubborn jasper BB, seriously was a living hell, this is like my 30th rgh or something, finally went with the cable, boot time never exceeds 20 seconds, most times instant or on second glitch, it took forever to glitch without it, which is weird cause all my phat installs were instant glitch no matter what :D

have a weird trinity here, which takes 30 seconds will stick in the cable tommorow and see how it goes,

I understand it's been quite a delay but I've finally been able to have a go. My box is currently glitching instantly with the shield going to ground. Found an interesting video about grounded shield vs. non-grounded shield too which may be of interest to some - [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOoyrsi6ctk"]Cable noise -- the effect of grounding the shield conductor - YouTube[/ame] I can post pics if people are interested, I can already list how I would do it differently next time!

ok so let me see if I have this right before I try it. I have the low loss cable, So I should use it for the ground and use it for the alt point? Also Im seeing ground the shielded cable am I reading this right or is there a way of grounding it?
