I decided to read the nand using the pin header technique, but the manufacture's solder is really hard to desolder. I am using desolder braid, just like in the tut, but it's taking a while to do. I managed to do J2B1, which took me awhile. I also read other tuts saying to add your own solder to it, then desolder it with desolder braid. That's what I did, it helped, but still took awhile O_O. Please help, and thank you :D

hi,

what size soldering iron did you use ?? I found that a 15w & 30w was not hot enough so I use a 60w with point and it melts perfectly ( but dont keep it on too long )

dale;)

It can be tricky m8, adding solder helps. but it always seems to be the same damn holes that never clear.
My old method was board out of chassis on its side between my knees a little solder blob on the troublesome hole then working from topside of board using solder iron i heat the blob and use a solder sucker pump on the same hole on the underside of the board.

It works well for me and minimises lifting the pads due to too much heat and also sometimes the solder braid will solder its self to the pads if not enough heat this can also weaken the pads if you tug at it so avoid that.

All that being said i have found myself not bothering with the headers and use direct wires through the holes method. its faster cleaner and less risky. i extended each of the nand wires a couple of inches with solid core bell wire from maplins, this helps as when you heat the wire up it doesn't bend so goes through the hole first time. bare the extensions back about 5mm ,apply a blob of solder to each hole first then with solder iron heat it to melting point whilst offering up the bell wire, be careful not to leave the tails to long on underside as they may short out the board ...just trim them with cutters.
also if you want you could cut the wires at the extension and leave in place for future use,but i dont think thats required anymore.

I might do a tut on this method for peeps as i know soldering seems to be a major issue

i also found a solder sucker was much easier. i use the exact same method as steven and the solder flies out. i use a 30w iron and it takes about 5 mins to do all holes. theres a couple where the solder wont melt but these arent connected to the wires so i just remove the pins for these and its fine.

Thanks, so much everyone =D I just have two annoying points left O_O. Steve what kind of de-soldering pump do you use ? Thank You, and I would also like to know executer's technique in de-solering these points, because it is his favorite nand reading technique after all :D

as long as there is no wire going to that pin then if its being stubborn i dont bother to desolder. desoldering braid and a decent iron will melt it though. i just use a cheap ass solder sucker, i think i paid about £1.50 off ebay for mine and works a treat for desoldering them holes.
