Has anyone gone with the wire install method over the pin header method? If so why, is it easier or more difficult than the pin header install?

TIA

Personally, I think pin head install is the best!
Its easy to install and solder.!
It holds the chip nice and snug!

Also I am sure on this site some where it states that the official install is with the pin head!

Reading Lite On DVD Keys

I am looking to start my own flashing service and I have flashed every drive except for lite-ons. What I do know is that I need an xtractor and a probe and I read the drive key by inserting the probe's pin into the R707 hole. I have found the USB Xtractor to be the easiest to use, but it does not work for the 83850c drive.

I have three questions I would like to be answered.

Does the USB Xtractor work on all other Lite On drives except for the 83850c?

Does the USB Xtractor include the power board?

Are there any other probes and xtractors that works with all lite on drives?

Re: Reading Lite On DVD Keys

either you have not read the jungle flasher tutorial or you have read it poorly. The R707 pin is only for 7xxxx series lite-on
8xxxx V1 all you need to do is connect drive to comp and flash
8xxxx V2 and 9xxxxx series prepare your self for the solder of ur life on the circuite board and traces cutting.

so my advice to you is to READ THE JUNGLE FLASHER TUTORIAL
if you already read it READ IT AGAIN THOURGHLY

Re: Reading Lite On DVD Keys

I forgot all about the jungle flasher tutorial. Im not as smart as I thought I was.

So to sum it up, on the 7 series I use the USB xtractor. On the 8 V1 series I just flash like normal, and on the 8 V2 and 9 series, soldering is the only way?

Thanks for the help

Re: Reading Lite On DVD Keys

You could get the ck3 and probe 2 for the later lite on drives.
