LITEON 0225 play dvd after swapping pcb

hi,I ve swapped pcb for few min from one drive to another to see if laser is ok and after that procedure I get play dvd when inserting xbox 360 game disc
changed laser ,still no go
any ideas what the hell happen to it

did you extract and flash the dvd key from the old pcb to the swapped?

The DVD key is stored in the PCB. You can't just swap boards without flashing the correct key I to the new board.

You can't just swap pcbs and expect the drive to work automatically. You have to flash the new pcb with the firmware file and DVD key of your old pcb.

I didn't try to flash it just wanted to see if the dvd drive is ok,without going online

well as krafter and frayed have pointed out it won't work without correct key on the drive

what I did was pull out pcb from 1 dvd put it into 2one
placed game disc and put it back to 1one
now getting play dvd error

Do note that you need more than just a drive key - you need a dummy.bin backup (or a full firmware dump) from your original PCB.

Are you trying to say that you swapped PCB from dvd A to dvd B, then placed it back from dvd B to dvd A and now you are getting "play dvd" on dvd A... Is this correct because I think there is some confusion going on.

I want to know why you chose to swap PCBs across instead of swapping the lasers?

Surely that would have been a lot less hassle?

I'm sorry forgot to add that issue wasn't only laser
it was broken tray too

Needless to say, I'd like to bet that you didn't connect the SATA cable properly.

I mean if you didn't modify the original PCB at all, the drive should work just fine with the console it is paired with.

Double check the ribbon connections onto the PCB itself, make sure they are seated correctly aswell. Get a dummy dump from the PCB aswell

ok what drive is it you got.

to swap pcb you need to unsolder wires.

so images of your 2 drives and both pcb would help.

by the way can u tell me whether sputnik switch or probe is needed to write firmware
