GENERAL Play DVD Error

I don't know much about modding xbox 360's or updating. Okay so I have a modded xbox 360 pro with the liteon drive. About 2 years ago, I got my xbox 360 modded by a modder. I later updated it before going online. Today I attempted to go online and was asked to update my dashboard. I did so and ever since then, my xbox 360 has been displaying a 'play dvd' error everytime i put a burnt game into the system. Retail copies still work. I was wondering if I could fix it myself. I have a usb and don't know much about how my xbox 360 was modded. Is it easy to update? And could I do it myself? The modder is asking for $30 and is telling me he will do it wen the new LT comes out. I would like to play before since its winter break. Can anyone help? I also have the problem of not knowing what LiteOn it is.. (I KNOW THERES A THREAD ON THIS, BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT)

updating past the 13146 dash update returns the drive to stock so back ups can longer be played without the drive being flashed again
to flash it play back ups again you need to get your dvd key...if its a phat liteon heres the tutorial on how to do it http://www.xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66257

Meaning I essentially have to mod it again? Or is it just an update that can be done with the USB?

yes it needs to be modded again ( it would be so good and easy if it could be done by USB , but it can't)
also there is a new update about to come out so if you are going to pay for it, wait till LT3.0 is released

having a look at those tutorials will show you how to do it, but then you'll need to get the equipment to do it as well

sounds good, thank you! And whens LT 3.0 expected to come out? I had another question. Is there anyway to tell what drive you have? I know I have a yellow wire, which means I have a LiteOn. Are there specific models?

lt3.0 will be out when it's out, being worked on still, good idea is not to ask when cause you'll get flamed...they never give exact release dates in case it gets held up, they just say SOON !

if it's a phat lite on and the console is past the 13146 dash it will now be a 02510C (All phat liteons become this after that dash)

really appreciate this, last question: Is it alright if I go on live using a retail disc or do I still run the risk of getting banned? My friends were coming over and I was thinking I could rent MW3 from the store and play it on live. Would I get banned?

since yours is currently 'stock' should be fine
they do these firmware mods and don't(wont) release the firmware (LT3.0) until it's been thoroughly tested so you can even play the backups online, if the game is burnt correctly

should be ok using a retail disc, but if you have a modified console , there is always a risk (never 100% safe once modified)
