Play DVD movies

I hope that I won't get "bashed" by posting this question but if someone could show me the place where I should post the question is greatly appreciated.

My question is related to playing a DVD movie on a modded, working xbox v1.6 with 2.6CE.

I've flashed Bank1 with X2 5035 bios, installed the softwares using AutoInstaller Deluxe v2.1. All are installed fine and my default dash is XBMC andI think the version number is somewhere in Oct or Nov 2005. XBMC runs fine but when I inserted a DVD movie - both original and copied - and use the Dongle Free DVD Player to play the movie, it won't play the movie and instead "freeze" the xbox all together. I have to press the on/off button and restart the machine again. I have NOT tried to install newer version of xbmc yet since I do not know whether the DVD player has anything to do with xbmc or not. Thanks again for your replies and I apologise if you feel that I'm not doing the right thing by posting this sort of questions here.

There are a few versions of Xbox DVD players that are all very similar. DVD-X (v1 requires dongle, v2 does not) and Guex DVD Player (does not require dongle). I had both DVD-X v2 and Guex successfully playing DVDs on my 1.0 box. I think sometime in December XBMC finally had the long awaited DVD support, so it may be worth updating your package.

I don't think there really is a "correct" place for this question here, probably the software forums over at Xbox-Scene would be the ideal area.
