"Play DVD" on all backups & originals after attempt to upgrade to LT 3.0

Phat box, Lite-on with 0251 fw (drive fw shows 83850C on the sticker).

This is a bit tricky..
I have a .bin file saved that is of my drive, hacked LT 1.9 firmware.
Took my box and had it upgraded in a shop to 2.0 a while ago.

Now i figured, this time i can upgrade from 2.0 to 3.0 myself, since i have the hacked 1.9 with my drive's key.

So I chose that as the source, chose stock 0251 as target, spoofed, erased, wrote, outroed. all worked flawlessly just as the tutorial instructed.

plugged the xbox in, plugged a usb stick with the latest dash update to it and upgraded.

all seemed well, then i figured before i continue and flash to LT 3.0 i'de give it a try with an original (since it's in stock).

all i see is "Play DVD".

tried to do the whole process again and again... and also to flash to LT 3.0... no luck. on all backups\originals that is all i get.

Here's the begging of the log that contains the sources and target i chose upon upgrading to LT 3.0.
i don't have the rest though because the process was done on a friend's PC. i may be able to provide these later. however they all seem to match the tutorial...

Any ideas?..

Are you sure you used the original key for your drive when you flashed to 3.0?

What he said^^^
play DVD is sure sign of a 'keyless' drive, or the wrong key for the motherboard.

Re: "Play DVD" on all backups & originals after attempt to upgrade to LT 3.0

you load your dummy into source not the orig-02510C-1c000.bin

and LTPlus-0251-v3.0 into target

then spoof source to target.

Re: "Play DVD" on all backups & originals after attempt to upgrade to LT 3.0

Frankly, the 1.9 bin that I used also came from the shop a long time back.
All that I am certain of is that I chose had the correct one chosen as source and spoofed.
After some research, I thought that they gave me the wrong key, and I guess I'm screwed.
However, I have done the same for a friend's Xbox, which also had his key sent to him by another shop. Got the same error.
That's one I figured it's more likely I have done something wrong than two different shops had given us two bad keys to different machines.

note that it's not the dummy.bin i'm loading. it's the lt 1.9 fw with the key just as it was flashed to my drive a year ago. (hit Save to file).
don't know if it matters... i just figured if it contains the key it could be used as source.

i've read some posts about the key being changed when going over from 1.x to 2.0+,
is it happening because i used a key that was extracted from 1.9, to flash from lt 2.0 to 3.0?.. (even though it's the same drive, same console?..)

Re: "Play DVD" on all backups & originals after attempt to upgrade to LT 3.0

Is it possible that you flashed your key to your friends box and his key to your box? or did you do them on different pc`s?
Impossible.. Separate folders file names etc. pretty sure about that part

Do you have your DVD tray half open? I did that once and it did not take. Was the yellow key showing? If not right click on your source target. Then click verify key. This will turn the key to yellow.

It wasn't half open. Should I have had it half open? Didn't see in the tut.
The yellow key was not showing... What does that mean?

Can`t see not having tray half open making a difference to be honest , have you got the tools to dump the drive , and see what key it gives you.
No unfortunately I don't have tools to dump the drive..

im assuming the yellow key your asking about is the key in mtk flash 32 tab and at the bottom of drive properties where it says dvd key? if it is all you have to do is when you load your bummy.bin in source right click in the source box and then you will have option to verify key but you will need to make sure that its your dummy.bin. then load your lt 3.0 as target spoof source to target then mtk flash 32, liteon erase, write, once finished click outro/ata reset. hope this helps

Right , all that i can think of is that you have mixed up the key`s with your friends box , why not flash your drive with the other dummy bin you have from your friends drive

Re: "Play DVD" on all backups & originals after attempt to upgrade to LT 3.0

Unless you flashed your friends fw to your drive I think the guy who flashed your Xbox sent you the wrong key!
Coincidence I know but it's possible as well that whoever did your friends Xbox sent them the wrong key too

I think you should get in contact with who did your drive and see if you can send them your drive so they can verify the key from their key database (as long as they haven't deleted it! I know I have everybody's key who's consoles I've flashed)

Failing that you may have to RGH to get correct key

Well. Eventually each my friend and I took each Xbox back to the shop which flashed it to begin with.
They had backups of the keys and were able to flag to lt 3.0.
Both denied sending us the wrong keys.
We have asked them to send the keys they have used this time to compare... Because I still have no idea what I did wrong... Followed the tutorial to the letter, (except for using flashed fw with key instead of .bin which to my understanding should not make a difference). The output was as expected, yet it didn't work...
I guess I would have to compare the keys they'll send me this time with those I used to see if I did in fact had the right keys.. Because I don't know what else could have gone wrong.
Anyway, thanks so much to all of you that have tried to help out. Really appreciate it
