External DVD Burner

Hey Guys,

I am new to the site. I am looking to pick up a external DL DVD Burner to burn some Xbox 360 games with. I have a friend that will explain how to burn them and what not, but doesnt know which one I should get because his is built-in.

Any recommendations on a good quality DL that will serve my purpose without costing me a ton.. Thats all I want/need it for.

Re: External DVD Burner

well any dvd burner can be turned into an external, but externals are a lot slower just so you know. I'm pretty sure llamma.com has a few good ones to look at.

Re: External DVD Burner

that is a dual DL DVD drive but its an IDE drive, not SATA. It will still work but make sure that your computer has an IDE port. Also, SATA is faster. I'm not sure if they make usb to IDE converters, I have one for SATA and it works fine though (that's for external).

Re: External DVD Burner

Usb 2.0 is rated at 60 megabytes per second. A 16x dvd burns at 21.13 mega bytes a second. Of corse the numbers are effected by multiple variables but I don't think speed is an issue.

Who burns at 16x anyway? 2.4 is what I use to be safe.
