GENERAL playing back up games

i was recently given an xbox 360, and i thought i would just try one of my back up games, it comes up with play game, but when playing begins just kicks me straight back to the homescreen,

any ideas or comments would be much appreciated

Will be wronged key/ drive, drive not flashed or the lense is bad

Does your original game work?

if it was working before then most likely laser.

thanks for response, it plays all other games fine, just not back ups, but i thought if your console was not flashed it would show up as play dvd and not play game like it does on mine

with the newer xgd3 games you tend to get play game but with no image if the drive is not flashed
