This may sound like a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyways....

How do I play Music (aka System of a Down) while I am playing my games from the Hard Drive.

I'm running the latest version of Evolution X, the latest version of X2 Bios. I use a DVD2Xbox to back up my music and games, and I play the music from XBMC.

I have also modified the XML file in DVD2Xbox so my directories look like this (f:/games f:/movies f:/music), and I back up the items accordingly.

I've tried to play the music from XBMC and run the game, but all I get is the game sounds......help!

I don't think that XBMC or the xbox itself is multi-task. You can do only one thing at a time. I might be wrong so wait for other replies before coming to a conclusion. How do you go about loading two different programs anyway? One to play games and one to play music? Why would you want to hear the music while playing games anyway? Wouldnt' you want to hear what's happening during your game?

My friend used to play music in his unmodded xbox all the time when he played Halo 2. Don't ask why, he's sadistic. He's in Iraq now so I can't really ask him how he did it. I do know for a fact that an unmodded xbox is capable of multitasking like this, but I don't know how to do it in a modded xbox.

There are games that allow you to use your own media files instead of the in game music. It all depends on if the game supports it or not. Look for custom soundtrack or something like that in the game options. I believe the sound files must be in a certain format and in a folder on the C drive.

Thanks Fantmx....
I ran the original xbox dashboard and saw the option to copy music. I haven't copied anything yet, because I don't know where it will go. You say the c:/ ? I'll try it tonight and see where it goes, then check to see if halo or any other game has that option.

If you use the Microsoft dash, it will copy them to the right place.

I just copied a cd of Pink Floyd and have no idea where it was copied to. I check through the C:// and E:// partitions.

You shouldn't need to know where it is. The dashboard music player will know, as will the games that support in game custom soundtracks.

It is in, like E:/TDATA somewhere. The folders are not named with music file names, it is all numbers and letters.
If you look real hard, you should be able to find it.
I found it by using avalaunch, it started playing my music and it said "Now Playing: E/TDATA/ffff0a/2/0011623.wma", or something along those lines.
Like I said, Look Hard.

Tip: NEVER EVER EVER! softmod an xbox (mistake 1) and then try to unlock your hard drive. Trust me, I learned the hard way, and I'm still trying to fix it.
