Playing Xbox Live still

I heard you can still play xbox live even though you have an Xecuter 3 chip. i'm not really sure of the process and was hoping anyone would point me in the right direction (not sure if this was stickied or already posted). all i kno is that it involves locking your HD and i think you have to boot up the original M$ dash, but thats all i have figured out. any help would be greatly appreciated

You have to boot with the mod chip disabled to the original dash (HDD must be locked)
You have to use you original copy of the game. Backups won't work.
