Playing XCI/NSP installed on SD card/External HDD

I'm curious as to if there's any noticeable slowdowns or fps drops when playing games
that have been installed on an sd card as opposed to being installed on the system. Also
if playing in docked mode with an external, will a standard hdd work fine or would a ssd
work better?

That goes without saying lol but if the difference is negligible then I'll just stick with the cheaper option.

ive played a fair bit od smo and botw from both extHDD and mSD (mSD both xci and nsp)
there are some slowdowns here and there (increased loading times; very rare but sometimes a few frames getting dropped)
IMO if you realy want to save like 2-5 bucks go for an extHDD with 1tb storage and usb2.0 connection
otherwise id strongly reccomend getting a 2.5" SSD (barebones) and an usb enclosure (preferably 3.0)
in the end it doesnt matter that much
