Hey Guys,

A few years ago I lived in Thailand, bought a playstation there (PAL), I also bought like 150 games at like fifty cents a piece (also PAL), I've used CDRWIN, some cd's work, others error... I gave up a while ago after about ten attempts...

The games that worked were really choppy... cold this be due to the PAL format? (Now in u.s. with NTSC xbox)

Is there a way to change some rom settings that will allow me to play decently?
Is there a reason why like more than half will not even convert to roms?

I suggest you use the program UltraISO, you may be able to find the program with a crack included. It will make an ISO of any PSX disc you throw in the drive.

why do I want an .iso, don't I want a playable ROM? would I then be able to turn the iso into a ROM... hmmm... o.k. I'll look into it and give it a try... thx

There is no Playstation Emulator that runs off of a rom, or atleast not that I've ever heard of. Both ePSXe for PC and PCSXBox for XBOX use ISO's or BIN, in which UltraISO can produce. You don't use read only memory when it comes from a CD.

Oh, thanx...

I didn't have a clue you could use .iso's... Silly me, that makes a lot of sense now. I wish I had retrospect goggles...

It's been a while... when I used cdrwin I believe it made .bin's, is there anything in the characteristics of a .iso, that would make it play better than the .bin's?

Thanks Kimosabe...

There really aren't any big differences, its just I know the two programs produce different files, such as ISO and BIN. They both work on PCSXbox and ePSXe, as I use em' myself. I just recommend using UltraISO because CDRWin has troubles with certain games and just flat out wont produce the thing you want, and the trial of CDRWin is slooooooow...UltraISO is the way to go. :)

just a quick check... you use .iso files too, cause this threads starts out with a guy that can't get them to work with his emulator... hm. (will still try, though.) Got ultraiso, but not my discs here... sometime,

thx

Mhm, if for some reason ISO's won't work with you when you try [different emulator's results vary], just try BIN, I'm 100% it'll work.

Yes, absolutely. I think he should be called 'lightning boy'.

I only made the post in March, for christ's sake!

I shouldn't say too much since it will take him another 6 months to reply properly. This is why I stress only to contribute to the forums if you're from this planet: where he's from, it's only been a day.
