I've read everything bios for three straight days. I need to be sure so it's right the first time. Some tut's conflict.

I have a used modded xbox. Set up by a meth addict last spring :( . I've tidied up the hard drive and now I wanna do the bios. (XBMC locks up with M7 bios. and newer is always better.)

Xbox=1.4(or 1.5) with 250gb HD, Xecuter 2.6 (maybe a CE?)with M7 bios on all banks (I think?) and 5035 bios ready to go(or patch).

The bios LBA48 patch confuses me. I patch the 5035 bios with F is 137, G gets the rest. Right?

I read:

For those moving from a non-LBA48 BIOS, if your drive is greater than 137GB and you already have a partition 6 which goes up to the 137GB barrier then choosing the partitioning option "Partition 6 Takes Rest of the Drive" will result in data corruption when the drive is written to. You'll need to reformat the drive if you want to resize your partition 6 to use all available space.

That's the part I'm afraid of. I dunno what the M7 bios did.

Now, I make the bios with bios manager. I put flashbios 3.01 on bank one and bank two, or just bank one? Then I put the patched 5035 on bank 3. Save new bios. Right?

Now when I'm flashing, I read the bank switch needs to be set to bank one. I also read set to bank two. And I read it doesn't matter. So which is it?

The x2 config.ini goes where? I read C drive and I read F drive, and I read just put it on all drives (so messy).

I wanted switchable dashbords via the bank switch. Can it still be done if Flashbios 3.01 and 5035 are on the chip? Seems like Flash bios 3.01 is a must have on the chip. I'm guessing the bank switch will now switch from flashbios to 5035 bios. right?

I'd really would like evox, or XBMC depending on the bank switch, But since I'm new to XBMC maybe I should give up the Evox dashbord.

A big giant Thank You for help. :D

Go into your dashboard and find the file manager. Look to see if you have a G drive or not.

There really isn't a need for flashbios, but if you use it, you will have to put it into two slots (3 and 4) and put 5035 in the first slot.

Put the config file in your F root.

No, flashbios allows you to do nothing but flash the bios. You could have a different bios on each bank for booting different dashes, but there is an easier way. If you use Avalaunch as your primary dash (others can do this too) you can set it up so if you are holding a certain button during boot up, it will load the application you have specified. Don't use EvolutionX, it is an old dash.

Thank you for the reply!!

The drive is partitioned up to G:, I should have stated that. I'm worried about the LBA48 patch because of XBTool's disclaimer (as stated in my first post). So I need to know how to set the patch for the 5035 bios. G gets the rest? I don't wanna fubar the partitions.

Which bank switch do I select for the flash? I mean the physical switches on the front of the xbox, bank one or two?

And I understand totally what flashbios does. I don't have it on the chip right now. So I need to find Flashx 1.2, every link I chase down leads me back to this site. To which I can find no downloads. Where oh where is flashx 1.2? The flash program I have now (musta come with EvolutionX) says bad something something ID=0, ID 1 expected, or something like that.

Once I get the bios flashed right, I'll figure out the dual boot (dual bios!! yup yup).

Avalaunch, hmmmm, Everybody seems to speak Evolution X. You're the first I read that calls Avalaunce better. I should try it.

Yes, G should get the rest if that is how it is right now.

You can get FlashX from xbins. Check my sig.

The bank you select doesn't matter for flashing. I believe FlashX will allow you to pick which bank you want to flash.

EvolutionX is a very old dashboard. Avalaunch has more features and is newer. The reason so many people have EvolutionX is because that is what slayer's installs by default.

Yes, FlashX gives you complete control over where the BIOS gets flashed.

I don't know if you'll be able to pull off a dual boot with two separate BIOSes, unless they are different. You can have two copies of X2CL 5035 on there but both will read the same ini file. I had seen a thread where someone was trying to change the BIOS to read a separate location for the ini but I don't think they were successful. Avalaunch will do as Fantmx said, and another nice dash UnleashX will do the same. I would probably move to using XBMC as my dash (especially with the new HD 16x9 LCD at home!) but I'm spoiled by both UnleashX's quick launch buttons and the recent app list. It is a slick dashboard.
