Hi guys,

I have been using a Rev. B coolrunner on RGH 2.0 on my 16mb Jasper for several months with no problems.

Today I received my Demon and had a go at installing it.

I soldered it in and hooked all the relevant cables. When it came to reading the Demon nothing seems to be working.

I have blue lights on my USB at the front of the XBOX but when I connect a cable it says USB not recognided. I connected a USB cable directly to the Demon and it recognised it, however 10 minutes later it says USB not recognized

Now it is saying not recognized and I have no idea why? Could it be my Windows 7 x64 playing up. I might try it on my 32bit Laptop but just don't get it.

Here are some pictures of my work:

Please help dudes.

I didn't see your check for continuity between test points and console's NAND and check for shorts between adjacent solder points?

As a pro installer, this is the first thing you should be doing before posting for help.

I wish i was a pro lol. I will check with a multi meter tomorrow.

Can I ask why if no power is connected to the Xbox is it the Demon isn't recognised in Windows when the USB is connected direct to the chip? Is it shorting somewhere/dodgy USB on PC or a goosed board?

Cheers for your help martin and co. Thats what I love about this forum. The support is great.

The console needs 5V STBY and GND connected so we can read/write the NAND (I'm sure we get 5V STBY power when the power brick is connected).

The micro-USB socket is ONLY to be used before installing the DemoN (with the switch set to PC) for testing.

Once the DemoN is installed, the switch must be set to XB and we use the external USB module for reading and writing.

Since it's meant for professional installation, I suggest sending it to one.
No need to be like that mate :(

I'm not a complete noob. I am just new to the Demon and want to make sure what I am doing is right. I've seen people on here acting far worst and not get any stick.

Just after a few tips and pointers.

Check your QSB's then man , if you don't have a meter use a magnifying glass or something of that nature. Or go down to your nearest Radio shack and pick a meter they come in handy , especially for things like this ;)

With the greatest of respects, there is card in the DemoN box explaining this.

The quick solder pads are very small and can be lifted very easily - there are alternative points, but they are by no means easy to solder to.

Its the first thing I will check tomorrow. I have my magnifying glass and it all seems good, however my meter will tell me for sure. I have no I idea why I didn't use it

I'm currently pissing in the wind as it could be anything that's causing me issues.

Sorry for time wasting. I will report back tomorrow.

Test continuity against the alternative points and also the pads on the DemoN to ensure there are no solder bridges.

Tested continuity on the demon board and its all fine. Even tested on other pads to ensure no cross over and thats fine too...

My Blue LED on the front of the USB demon switch works but as soon as I plug in USB it says not recognised. Hmmmm... I also get no power to my xbox when I try and turn it on.
