Ok here we go. I installed a xecuter 2.6 (I believe this is correct it has x2.6 printed on it) on an Xbox version 1.6. When I plugged it in the wall every thing worked fine. Being quite pleased with my self that it didn’t blow up my Xbox; I went and started researching bios to flash the chip with. At this point everything worked fine, but when I flashed the bios things went wrong. It flashes green twice then powers on and flashes red and green (I believe it’s called a frag). When I made the bios disc i used the tutorial on teamexecuter.com. I made a 100mb dummy file along with the bios file evoxm7 1 mb (originally 256 kb). I burned it using Nero on a cd-rw. Then scrolled down the menu and chose install by disc and the tray opened. I inserted the disc and closed it. It went through the whole install process. And finally the Xbox powered down after it was done. I eagerly turned it back on and it started the whole flashing thing. So please someone help me.

You made two errors (1 fatal):

1. You haven't read any tutorials that relate to 1.6 Xboxes.
2. FATAL - You've flashed over your entire chip. You'll need a programmer before you can go any further.

Read my troubleshooting guide for help.

another question if you will

Dear god, that didn’t help out one bit, but thanks for the effort! I’ve read numerous tutorials on the 1.6, including the ones you have listed. So what you’re telling me is that I’ve flashed to much data for the 2.6 and all left over data was flooded over to the 2nd bank. Meaning my chip is screwed, thus I will have to buy a new one (preferably an x3 since every friggin tutorial known to man is on the x3). Now my new question is what bios and dash should I get for the x3 and how do I get the original Xbox dash on the new hard drive I installed (250 gb 7200 rpm).

you dont have to go out an buy a new chip, if you want to thats ok but onother way is to buy the programmer and re-program your 2.6.

None of this is rocket science!! Buying an X3 will not solve the root cause: your inability to read the tutorials available. I suggest leaving the chip for the time being. Read the tutorials and you will eventually (I hope) start to understand what you're doing. Jumping in with both feet is seriously not a good idea.

Check with your supplier - they should have them.

The programmer is a device allowing you to flash the chip outside the Xbox if you've managed to lose FlashBIOS. It connects to your PC Parallel port (LPT) and your chip plugs into it. Using X2 BIOS Manager, you can flash your chosen BIOSes onto it.
