I am so close to finishing this RGH as I was following this guide to a T:

http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75945

I made it all the way to the screenshot (Read Your CD Key). Well I do have the CD key and I entered it. I was then opted to select a dashboard. I went into folder 13604 and selected bin file CB_4579.bin. I was guessing that was correct for a Phat Zephyr xbox. Well then Jtag tool crashed with an error. I am not sure what it was because I closed it. I would love to post the error but what do I do now? I cant start from the beginning can I? Can I go into advanced mode somehow and start where I left off? I really have no idea? Also was that the correct dash bin file?

Also, am I supposed to be doing this with the xbox on or off?

I really hope someone can help cause I will be sitting here awkwardly until then.

Thank you

Anyone? Surely I can start somewhere again right? I mean, all I should have to do is enter the key and load the dashboard. Can I pick up from there somehow?

Help..

So your at the point when your creating Freeboot correct? If so go to the advanced tab, select the main ribbon and then enter usb/ltp, then your console type, and then enter your cpu key in the sapce. After this select the Reset Glitch ribbon, click creat fb. Then select a copy of your nand. If will do a few things then ask you to save. After you have saved click write.bin and select the freeboot.bin you just created. It will write it to the console and then you should be all set.

Hey thanks for the reply, I am so close. Question, does the xbox need to be on and at the cpu key screen when performing this?

Also, how can one verified that it worked?

Thanks

Okay, so I got a freeboot image and renamed it nandflash.bin and placed in on a Fat32 formated thumb drive with rawflash v3. Everytime I turn the unit on it only makes it to Initializing wireless controller 3 and just stops.

Anyone have a clue what i am missing? Or perhaps an alternative method?

Thanks

Okay, tried a new flash drive and it completed.

Unfortunately, I turned it off and back on and now all I get is a black screen.

Did I doom myself? Any clue?

If you are using jtag tool there is no need for the USB drive as it writes the image to the NAND for you. Follow the prompts in jtag tool and just add the files in as needed you can bypass flashing the board. Follow what it asks then enter CPU to check NAND images then create your fb image and write the bin file.

You only need to use the other method if you have bad blocks.

If I turn it on using the rom drive I get a black screen as well. I can no longer load Xell or anything. I was so close and every other step worked fine. I wonder what I did or how I could get out of this mess.

I was using the USB Method because it claimed to remap the bad blocks.

The reason we are updating through Xell Reloaded rather than with the NANX is because of the bad block error's we received earlier in the process, rawflash V3 will remap the bad blocks for us so that saves us another job.

How do I do this using the other Jtag tool? Now that I can't get into even Xell will this still work or do I have to start elsewhere?

You do have bad blocks then you could try remapping them in jtag tool. Then writing directly to the NAND. Your not screwed. It's a learning process.

When you did the USB method did you have the three components needed xenon.elf rawflash and nandflash.bin on the key??

Try writing your ecc file again.

Also you might try multibuilder.

I had one bad block. Could this be why I have a black screen? Also, what happened to Xell, I get no video at all now.

Bad block was (Error: 250 reading block 1A
03FF)

I just wrote the image directly to the nand using Jtag tool and it completed successfully. The I unplugged the power supply for 30 seconds or so and turned it back on and still I only get a black screen.

I do not know how to remap the bad blocks but I could try to mess with it.

I think at this point in time it would be good for me to know what not to do also? What should I not do so I don't brick this thing?

When I did the usb method I had xenon.elf and nanflash.bin on the thumbdrive. It seemed to work with no errors also but still, only a black screen.

I am not sure what multibuilder is and if I do mess with the ecc again could I brick the box?

Sorry, I am a newb.

Thanks though

Here's what I would do write original NAND back to make sure it boots. Then rewrite ecc and get xell booting again. Write the original NAND then report back and we will start from square one.
Hey thanks so much for your help. I have done the things you requested. I wrote the original NAND and it did boot. I then Rewrote the ecc and it is now booting Xell.

Whats next, please use detail as I am new.

Thanks again, I would be dead in the water else-wise.

If your bad block is at x3ff your fine as its at the end of the image. Go into jtag tool and go straight to advanced mode.

Click the main tab and select console type and put in your correct CPU key.

Then go to the reset glitch tab and Click the "create fb" button

You will be prompted to select a NAND image select the appropriate file.

It will do the work for you sit back and wait for completion. Then upon closing cmd prompt it will ask you to save the file as FreeBoot.bin save

Then click the "write.bin" button you will be asked to select an image select the freeboot file you just saved. Write and then your done.

Well, bummer. I did exactly as you said and it was successful saying Freeboot installed. Then I turn on my Xbox and a get one green light and no video. Usually I get one green light followed by a circle of green lights and then the video comes on.

I guess I will flash the original Nand again and the reload Xell. Would you have any other suggestions why I cant seem to finish this last step?

I was wondering about two things. One was the dashboard? Does it matter which version I select from the drop down in Jtag tool? The other is I am applying the to a Zephyr motherboard. When I select Zephyr in Jtag tool under main it says this (There's some issues with jtag Zephyr when making 12625 Freeboot. You car try but if you have any issues just write original Nand back). What the heck does that mean?

The reset ship is soldered right or else I would not have gotten Xell right? Could it be bad solder? I mean everything is successful even the last step, I just only get black screen and one green light as if the system never finishes booting up once I apply the last nand.

Let it sit until it boots it can take some time zephyrs are finicky. Your solder is good because xell booted. You could try following the multibuilder tutorial on here. I had a zephyr that was a pain. Booted instantly but took a bit to boot to dash. Let her sit for a bit 5 - 10 minutes. Then go on to the multibuilder option.

Also, Freeboot creates itself in about 2 seconds "very quick" and is about 16mb. This normal?

Does the hard drive need to be connected? I would not assume so.

Okay, tomorrow I will let he sti a good 15 minutes or so. I need to put the case back together too. I am assuming these things overheeat very fast due to the top case not being on? It certainly did not get that hot so quick before.

Thanks again for all your help! I will touch base with you tomorrow.
