I have gotten a xbox from someone that tried to install the RGH hack themselfs what has happened is the resistor under Point A has been accidentally nocked off and the pad has been lifted on the top side of it. I was just wondering if this box is scr**ed or fixable with an alternate point for the top pad. Here is a pic:

Do you still have the resistor?, if not there should be someone here that can tell you what size it is. This can be repair by a pro, if you don't know what you are doing this could get ugly. It's fixable

I took the resistor off a dead xenon board so i do have a resistor yes. i believe that i can solder it myself if someone would give me some info on how to do it like i said i received the board like this. I am a very good at soldering. Have done probably 50 - 75 RGH installs in Surrey, BC.

It looks like the trace was pulled off also, so you will need to locate what point it was going to (can't see anything in the pic) I would also suggest that you solder in your "A" first and then do the repair or use an alternate point, the repair will be much more delicate and easy to over heat and cross bridge .

Edit:
Here is a thread with a resistor repair in it, read the whole thing there is some tips in here and a picture of a repair that might surprise you

Hate to say this but thats point "C" I'm having troubles with point "A" (CPU_PLL_BYPASS) i don't really think that thread is relevant. I already read the whole thing before posting this thread.

I know but the idea was that you have some options, I was looking that post

Perhaps this one is helpfull:

So basically solder a resistor back and find the alternate point on the other side of the board
From these photos I think you can solder in the resistor at the bottom, that pad still looks good in your picture and bridge to CPU_PLL_BYPASS at top of the resistor and still use your original point which looked untouched.

Ok, Thanks for the tips guys thats the next thing i was going to try solder the resistor to the bottom point and a wire from the other side of the resistor to the point on the top side of the board. and if that doesn't work i will just try the next suggestion.

Which is to just solder the bottom side of the resistor to the point thats still intact and then solder the other side of the resistor to CPU_PLL_BYPASS point. Is all that info correct if so i will try it tomorrow as its late and don't want to mess it up anymore due to lack of sleep.

Also i forgot to mention that when i turn on this console the power led on the ROL does not blink like it normally does without a DVD Drive plugged in when you power on all other 360 consoles. any suggestions for fixing that or is that due to this Point A being messed up?

I would guess it is best to go for the point at the bottom, to keep the interference as low as possible.

Ok thanks for the tip also does anyone know why with stock firmware flashed the power led on the front of the console does not flash and after about 30 seconds it just goes error 0022 i know error 0022 is a short near or on CPU_PLL_BYPASS but it was doing this before the resistor was accidentally taken off.

Hey I do not want to hi-jack the thread but it is revelant to this issue because i still don't know what was the size of that resistor? I had a meter and it was 8540 resistor on another board and when I measured point B it did show 33 ohms which I have read that is the proper measurement. I have that as the last thing to repair but that number doesn't sound right. Also i'm very curious on how did the repair come out at the end?
