Hello everyone, Just wanted to say I love this site. Very helpful. I have hit a snag and now I AM officially stumped.

Ok I have a TS-H943A F/W ms25 Drive, I was wanting to flash it with the firmware Xtreme52a. So I went through all the motions, followed everything in the textbook step by step. I got the Drive to take the flash, but when I connect it to the 360 main board, the 4th light keeps flashing red and says error 66, So I figure it was just a bad flash. So I use the 0800 disc and get it back to the original firmware. I don't get any errors there, but when I put an original copy of a 360 game in, it shoots up an error and says "If you want to play this disc insert it into an xbox 360" I do have my original firmware and I copied my Key out of it about 20 times. lol. I have flashed a lot of things before like DVD drives, etc etc. But this has me stumped. I really would like some help. I apologize to you all ahead of time I am sure you get this stuff a lot, Although I did not find any threads pertaining to my exact situation.

About my Flash.

I used the NTFSDOS disc, but it threw up an error and said something like "Trash the batch" or along those lines... And I am familiar with MTKFLASH..So I tried that off from a new floppy disc, The disc did fine and everything, didn't die out or nothing and it appeared to be taking the flash properly. I also used Maximus firmware toolbox to replace the key in the firmware with my original key before I flashed.

My main board is an MSI K7N2 DELTA2-LSR It is on the compatibility sheet. I am using the Nforce drivers although, I figured if it was a driver problem it wouldn't even take the flash.

My hard drive that I was using NTFSDOS on is a 160g. Western Digital.

So anyways, I sure would appreciate some ideas on this. Thanks a lot guys..

The reason you are getting E66 is likely because you flashed with firmware that is reporting as a ms28 drive. Download samtool (found in the downloads section) and put it in a directory with your original firmware and the xtreme firmware you want to use. For the sake of this example, we'll call them orig.bin and xtreme.bin. So, once you have everything in the same directory, open a command prompt window, goto that directory and type:

samtool orig.bin xtreme.bin

It should display your key and the version for each. It should then prompt you to copy the version from your original firmware to you hacked frimware, which should fix the E66 issue. Then, put the xtreme.bin where ever you will be flashing from and flash as normal.

If samtool comes up with an error stating that your key wasn't found, thats the reason you are getting the error you stated above. Since you said you have the key written down, it shouldnt be an issue. You can inject your key into your original firmware with 360 Firmware Toolbox or by hex editing. If that is the case, let me know, i'll talk to you through it.

By the way, the reason why this happened is you didn't do the "update X360SAM / Keycheck" part of the tutorial. This would have prevented it .. oh well, too late now. Just follow caster420's instructions for using samtool.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. Now theres another snag, My drive will not read the 0800 disc too bypass the firmguard. I have tried to use a DVD+R and a DVD+R DL. No go on either one. Is there a certain way you have to burn it on the DL? Cause the file is so small, and in IMG burn it gives ya a couple different options. Like burn on a single layer or spread the data out on the disk? I have tried about 30 times toget the drive to read it so I can get passed that firmguard. I am planning on going back to Original FW then going to the 5.2a. Anyways, Any Ideas or suggestions?

I also have one more ?, in xtreme boot maker, when it list your raid and stuff, I have Parallel Serial ATA and Nforce Raid. The Parallel Serial ATA works seems to work fine, it recongnizes everything it should, but I noticed on all the tutorials they all say RAID. Could that be an issue?

Thanks again
